it twists off as for removing the metal stub it will leave on the screen no idea

Correct. Twist it off. For removing the metal tab, use a fine wire and a sawing motion. I've even done it with dental floss. Go slowly.

Cheers Andy - couldn't find anything that showed it.
I've read about heating the screen up to help melt the glue but it says risk of breaking windscreen which would be a disaster bearing in mind the grp surround so it all sounded a bit nerve wracking! Another one mentioned a cheese wire to sort of garot it off lol
