front rad pipe with bleed adaptor

10 Dec 2006, 12:11pm
Hi guys.

It seems one step forward and two steps back at the moment. The adaptor has started leaking anti freeze.:( I have tried tightening but no good.

Was thinking about the sealing with the stuff that is used for the ali panels. But would this stand the coolant pressure?

Any ideas welcome.:)

Not sure about sealers, never been a lover of them but thats just my thoughts. I appreciate it would be a nuisance, but can you take the valve ect out an put rubber washers either side of it. Otherwise I guess a call to Marlin.

Hi John,

Had the same problem with mine...I'd tightened up the bleed vent too tight and the extra force had moved it off centre from the hole in the rubber pipe...hence it started seeping around the base.

If your's is leaking round the base I'd suggest slackening the securing nut slightly then recentre the valve in the pipe hole and nip up...not too tight.

....if yours is leaking from the top (i.e. the tyre valve bit) then fit a s/steel cap with a rubber seal in it (halfords)

Cheers Rich I'll give that a go. I poured out quite a bit the weekend end as I had the back jacked up dealing with the driveshafts. So rad pipe is now empty.
