Looks great, well done.

redratbike 15th October 2017 14:23

Yeah that works ...

gives it a whole heap of character and a nod towards the original plan ...

a Maserati tributo

Wow, I l liked it before, but that seems to bring everything together really nicely. Looks fantastic.

I pity the first bird of rabbit that you encounter.

IanA 15th October 2017 15:59

That works really well- adding "un tridente" would mean that most people would not be able to tell.

mazdarazmataz 15th October 2017 16:17

Yep that works very well. Congratulations!

Lucky@LeMans 15th October 2017 16:34

That makes a massive difference, it gives the car a whole new look, very good !

vantage1e 15th October 2017 19:43

Bloody nice grill. Really does set it off.

And if you're in a hurry making salad you could get someone to chuck a cucumber at it, at speed.

WCA – As others have said, the grille looks stunning and transforms the car.

Nice before and after photos. Thanks.

Now I just need one with just the gaping hole or perhaps half a pheasant for the 'between' shot

Jaguartvr 17th October 2017 09:08

Love the new grill but hate the plasterers mesh in the front air vents.
There are quite a few different stainless mesh patterns and gauges on Ebay you could experiment with.

WorldClassAccident 17th October 2017 10:42

mesh in vents is next on the list. It matched the original grille but now clashes horribly. Trying to decide what to do. Simply remove it or replace with something else and if so, what?

The 'original' used 'plasterers mesh' for the main grill and brake vent ducting for the sides and moderns stick driving lights in the holes

Have a look on Ebay at some of the mesh used on modern Jags as an aftermarket option. There are also generic stainless steel mesh in lots of different sizes and thicknesses.
I wonder if you could find an oblong mesh, mount it long side vertical and then black out the horizontal bars with permanent marker or paint so that it looks like a small scale of the main grill?

WorldClassAccident 17th October 2017 13:41

That's possible - I just don't want the front too over-shiney. It is finding the balance between plain usability, a pretty face and some show car that looks like it drove through a chrome shop.

The vertical main grille slats also make the nose of the car look wider. I am wondering if drawing attention to the side vents will make this better or worse.

I make well cut out some circles of tin foil to cover the mesh and then try colouring it in with different patterns to see what works.

I could always attach some piping behind the vents to cool the brakes as was originally intended but my first attempt at that looked shitty. Hopefully I have improved over the last few years so who knows.

As I said - still thinking of the options open to me at this point.
