Cars looking great Andy. I think I'll steal your front arch idea as I 'm not keen on the look at the front either.
Where did you get the material from? Cheers, Bob. |
That looks neat

Looks so much better. Every little change you make amounts to a big difference.
Must be following the 100 times 1% difference = 100% better Dave |
Looks like a finished car now . Details like the under arch trim make all the difference . The MX5 250 kits look odd when can see right through from the wheel arch to the nose and you look at a void of empty space. A simple but effective fix.

Some recent additions
Thanks to Lucky@LeMans (Paul) for building the bracket and screen for my bonnet screen. Heres some pictures:
The original https://c6.staticflickr.com/6/5688/3...c08effe2_c.jpgP1010985 by eric holm, on Flickr Placement of my screen https://c4.staticflickr.com/6/5694/3...f6f3770e_c.jpgDscn9397_ by eric holm, on Flickr Perspective view https://c6.staticflickr.com/6/5805/3...8db34b3b_c.jpgDSCN9389 by eric holm, on Flickr There is some adjustment needed to get the right angle, gap, fixing size, etc. but this needs some time and thought, but generally it fits and is a great addition to the car. You will see that my pictures look dark (time of year I guess), and in reality it doesn't look so noticeable and sort of blends in with the car. Also its shiny metal and in the picture it looks black. I'll take some more and share another day! Also I have gone with a smaller profile in terms of height and a slightly thicker screen (5mm) so the thing doesn't 'flap' around at speed. Thanks once again to Paul getting the profile from my rough cardboard template! :eusa_clap: |
Looks good !
Maybe a strip of soft rubber or foam under the screen will hide any slight gap. If you tilt the screen back slightly it will lift the front lower edge a little so the addition of a rubber strip will close the gap. |
Hi All,
Iv'e been messing around with a build video on Youtube using the pictures taken during the build https://youtu.be/v2hZuMKccMY Had to do 3 parts as software only limited me to 5 mins per video :hurt: Hope every one has a festive time, look forward to dry weather next year! :plane: |
Great work on the videos. Thanks for taking the trouble.
Have a wicked xmas Dave |
I opened the garage up today and found this tucked away in there:

Still waiting for the nicer warmer weather to appear..... https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/530/32...3c73f229_c.jpgDscn9628a by eric holm, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/610/32...722137ae_c.jpgDscn9629a by eric holm, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/310/32...6cfcfa54_c.jpgDscn9634a by eric holm, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/697/31...45ae9085_b.jpgDscn9637a by eric holm, on Flickr |
That really is a superb looking example and the wheels look just right too. I wouldn't be waiting for warmer weather if it was mine...

Looks great, it's amazing what you can find amonst the junk in a garage.
Bob. |
That does look excellent. The 250swb tributes are some of my fave cars out there.
Those wheels do look good. Are they Calibres ? Dave |

Thanks Dave, Yep well spotted they are calibres with a modified center with a 3 star spinner attached, All cost less than the 17" BMW wheels that were on the Z3 that I sold on ebay! Cheers |
Your car does look absolutely stunning.

Cheers, Paul. :) |
No bug screen on the front then ! Did you manage to find something that would seal the gap under it ?
The car looks stunning all the same. |

Front wheel arch liners
I finally got around to taking some pictures of the inner wheel arch liners I put in to
1. Stop the water being splashed straight on to the front light fitments and electrics & 2. get rid of that horrible see through the wheel arch and out of the front grill scenario. It took some time to fine tune, mount, shape and fix in place, without it fouling on the hood section when lifting it up and down. Overall I am pleased with the look. https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2890/3...d144567c_c.jpgaDSCN9670 by eric holm, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3692/3...912b326b_c.jpgaDSCN9669 by eric holm, on Flickr I also refurbished the soft top hood, and it had come back really well. Ive still got to get the small front deflector windscreen fitted with new mounts (local metal work chap on the case with that one). Here are some more photos as getting car ready for 1st April to be back on the road. Also booked up the Laon Historique trip for start of June :yo: So full systems checks are underway, oil, water, tyres, electrics, brakes, etc. https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3764/3...1cf18070_c.jpgaDSCN9747 by eric holm, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2931/3...e506b69e_c.jpgaDSCN9730 by eric holm, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2858/3...f76a3411_c.jpgaDSCN9849 by eric holm, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3710/3...feb43f83_c.jpgaDSCN9889 by eric holm, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3930/3...61fa27a8_c.jpgaDSCN9653 by eric holm, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/737/33...c2f8dc1a_c.jpgaDSCN9677 by eric holm, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2808/3...ff025065_c.jpgaDSCN9707 by eric holm, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3887/3...b8d767b9_c.jpgaDSCN9697 by eric holm, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/773/33...aa83fc38_c.jpgaDSCN9681 by eric holm, on Flickr |
