Just thought I would share a few pics
The z300s showing how sleek she is http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/...pskqhu2wng.jpg Some pics that inspired my styling http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/...pstlfbzkwz.jpg old school beauty http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9skh7bzt.jpg new school beast |

This is the KC 427 a styling concept that didn't get past the computer render - although I found a similar shape someone is carving from foam.
http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5iy9cdjx.png Would have to be built on a cobra kit car chassis as the body tapers in far too much to fit on an existing body |

no need for covers but allows the profile to be kept http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/...psoyfgta1p.png http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/...psdqmlvevz.png |
I do hope your project resembles the KC 427, including the wide wings typical of the 427 Cobras.

The trick is to exaggerate the proportions. http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/...psnobzebfx.jpg This is a pic of a KC427 replica in foam - notice the headlamps are a little more inboard and lines suggest the arch extension. The fiat lamps require a gap to their outer the mounting bracket is there. Chris shares my vision and just as soon as I make it to the head of the queue im sure progress will be swift. |
Here are a couple of photos of the only KC 427 that (I think) was ever built.
I believe it was renamed the KC500R. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...0/DSCF1098.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...0/DSCF1099.JPG |
That looks great but its spoilt by the stupid chrome wheels

thanks for the info DSG Not so sure about the shape from this angle |

The line on top of the wings remind me of when you see someone who has ironed his denim jeans It seems to have lost some of its curves from the render. But even the Puritalia evolved from its original sketch http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/...psmghuri0p.jpg Im sure my sketch will evolve when Chris breathes life into it. But I don't think we will see squared off shapes, Tributes are full of curves |
Are you planning on using anything with the z3 doors or the small window to the piller?
I really like the sound of this 'modern' car you have in concept but I really think its going to be spoiled by using a z3 |
The tailights in the sketch remind me of the fiat punto Grande .

you will see it because you know what it is but most wont look at the other tributes you don't see the z3 when you look at swb 250 convertible |
The swb convertible has door skins over and different handles.

Your previous comment led me to believe it was the quarter lights you were questioning. http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/...psrv1bkapi.jpg You made a great job on reshaping the corners of the doors and I know you shaved the door handles. But because we all know its a Z3 I still see Z3 doors and that's my point. We build Tributes because they are good value and they go together quickly. We can buy Cobra replicas or bespoke kits with new chassis and build times in years not days with the dreaded SVA at the end but we choose not to. For me your Kobra with unmodified doors would still look amazing with 99% of all viewing none the wiser. |
I only say it as its the 1 thing that I think spoils my car! I did origionally try to have the quater glass and pillar removed but to have been able to make it work I would have lost the electric windows asthe motor was in the way. Il try and dig out te photo of what I tried to do. I think its on the origional kobra thread.

Would triumph tr7 window mechanicals work they seem to have angled windows.
|
I would rather keep the bmw windows
Better to have something that works and works well than a bodged together set up , that doesn't seal properly all that wind noise and rain get in |
The waiting for the project to begin is hard.
I have bought the bits and pieces I think I need, the rear design has matured into something simple but without going too boy racer. My son and I are trying to decide colour schemes. He found this clip- Satin black tinted lamps and the stance is menacing https://youtu.be/1lyCjmIm6-k |
