I finally managed to get the boot support bracket to bond using a two pack epoxy, I didn't have any tiger seal left doh.

The windscreen is in place but not fixed yet I have made some brackets, bent twisted and drilled. Rubbish photo sorry.

I actually made three of these but drilled the first one before bending and twisting needless to say the holes didn't line up school boy error.
As they will be in full view I had better make a good job of painting them.

I managed to get a bit more done this week. The chrome covers for the wiper boxes didn't fit do made up some new ones from ally and inner tube rubber for the seals.

looking much better now.
http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...pictureid=1540
the washer jets have also been fitted I had to tap a thread in the Fiberglas as it was too thick to attach the locating nut.:nono:
I also made a third attempt at the interior mirror top mount.
http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...pictureid=1539

This is how it looks now.
http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...pictureid=1538
not too bad :biggrin1:
The mirrors are pretty much useless and will need some fetteling :drama:
I have made some card templates for the door screens and am waiting for the perspex and aluminium to arrive.

deggsy 13th October 2019 19:59

The perspex arrived this week for the doors I used masking tape to protect it when cutting with a jigsaw and for marking out I had to be very careful as I only had one shot to get them right.
http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...pictureid=1578
I also bought new blades for the jigsaw just to be sure.
they were drilled and temporarily fitted with cleko's (is that how you spell it?)

http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...pictureid=1577
They still need some trimming and then I have to find some edging for them and a alloy strip for the bottom edge hopefully it will all work out ok :frusty:

deggsy 22nd October 2019 19:27

I made some alloy strips from 1.2 alloy sheet and shrunk them to shape the first un-drilled one i shrank too far and is useless three attempts later I managed to have two good ones.
http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...pictureid=1603
they will look a bit like this when finished
http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...pictureid=1602
I found some alloy effect edging but it wouldn't bend around the curve at the rear top of the perspex so I had to angle them like this.

Not sure if its better or worst any opinions?

It's a detail that's neither here or there. The car looks fantastic and it will be viewed as a whole. Only you the builder will see every detail that has niggled you during the build. Everyone else will just say, "Wow."

It is possible to form aluminium channel around a corner. It does take a little time and trial and error but it will finish the job off nicely.

Mick O'Malley 23rd October 2019 08:06

This?

Edge trim.

Regards, Mick

Jaguartvr 23rd October 2019 12:56

deggsy 23rd October 2019 16:41

hand brake gaiter

Plan A I failed miserably to make a leather handbrake gaiter it could be something to do with the fact that i am useless on a sewing machine so I decided to try to make one from alloy. Plan B made some templates and cut the alloy.

But I don't like it too big and bulky The whilst reading the thread by Lancelot on vintage handbrakes i thought that looks a lot better I'll see if I can make something similar.

Plan C It won't be the who handbrake assembly just a similar looking cover.

So far so good a lot simpler with only two alloy sides and some spacers polish it up and drill some holes for effect  hoping to finish it next week end watch this space

deggsy 29th October 2019 19:05

Yep that's it thanks mine won't be as good as that but should look ok I hope

deggsy 2nd November 2019 19:22

I almost finished the hand brake cover this weekend I clamped the two half's together then marked out and drilled the holes.

http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...pictureid=1618
I also made a aluminium cover for the top and some brackets.

http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...pictureid=1615

The cover just clips on I have to decide whether to just leave it polished, drilled and polished or covered with vinyl

http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...pictureid=1614

I just need to polish it and decide which root to take with the cover?

molleur 2nd November 2019 21:32

Polished will look great! Gets my vote.

deggsy 3rd November 2019 15:35

It looks like this polished
http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...pictureid=1619
Now with or without holes? Hmmmm :drama:

molleur 3rd November 2019 17:00

No holes in the cover for me

deggsy 4th November 2019 09:17

Ok gents you persuaded me polished no holed it is.

deggsy 5th November 2019 19:55

I decided to make a mk2 version of the top cover which looks a little better.
http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...pictureid=1625
but then decided the open ends at the bottom may vibrate or rattle so I made a mk3 veraion.
http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...pictureid=1623
so what do u think mk1 or mk3 ???

jones 5th November 2019 21:22

Love mk3! A well finished product
