Custom car badges

Anyone know anywhere good for chrome/stainless car script style badges?

Google seems to only give me either existing words or laser cut square edged badges. I want the soft rounded edges like something from '50s Italy.

Here is one method but I don't know anywhere that will offer this as a service

The other option would be laser or water cutting followed by an extended session in a rounding / deburring machine.

Thanks - I have looked at the 3D printing and am asking a couple of places for quotes on that. Not sure I can be trusted with pouring liquid metal and buying a furnace for 2 badges won't go down well with the boss :-)

You could type the words wanted and find a font that suits, it would be easy to then use lightburn and get cut with a fibre laser using the font as a template and then using it as an outline, type it up and size it correctly including the width, then print as a PDF as its easier to import. Probably best if the metal/stainless is only a mm or 2 thick. alternately you could do the same using a CO2 laser and using acrylic with a 'metalised' cover, although this will allow the black acrylic to show at the sides.
The metalised acrylics are relatively cheap and it would cost a few minutes of cutting plus materials. First thing is to choose the script, but you could get the outline done a for a few pounds using fiverr as its that artwork that would cost the most to get done professionally in house with the cutter most likely.

Print it out and glue it to a piece of 2mm thick brass. Cut brass with a suitable saw and file the rough edges. solder on some small screws and get it all chromed... job done (but will take a lot of effort :whoo:)

If its just the font thats the issue and not the silver/black look then silvered acrylic would work and would take seconds to lasercut with a font template, however the black outline if you dont mind it is a simple way to hide the edge and can look from a distance like an enamel edge. the silver being one I cut out, the black being the 'trace' file. the second badge you show being a very easily achieved finish using the templates method. The easy way to fix being standard 3M VHB tape. The advantage being it would be easy to do and not involve 30 hours plus of filing!

IZE="4"]Previously I have created words and badges and had them laser cut. Even better and easier if you have a drawing program. This one is in stainless steel

That's great - how is it held in position?

Double sided sticky tape, then cut out the unwanted bits with a scalpel / razorblade / knife. Lasted 5 years and c.30,000mls.
