Robin Hoodz at LeMans 1999 !

Found some grainy footage of the RHOCAR ( Robin Hood Owners Club And Register ) and our annual LeMans trip for the 24hr race.
This was a trip out for lunch at the Hotel De France in La Chatre. That year was smaller in number than previous years with around 40 club members attending.
Later going on to park on the Mulsanne straight roadside for an impromptu car show which brought the traffic to a stand still ! 23 years ago !

Great footage and a beautiful location, but I swear I saw a Delta wing U.F.O tracking you at about two minutes in.

Or maybe it was a Millennium bug.

Great bunch of people in that club back in the 1990's. Huge attendance at all the shows, I think we saw over 200 Robin Hoodz at Stoneleigh one year ! MD Richard Stewart was a right character, shame he sold the company ( for

Duttons at Le Mans '88

Great footage, took me right back :)

I organised this club trip having seen photo's of one made in '72, so very early in Dutton history - lots of shoulder length hair! I was magazine editor at the time and was hoping for a real convoy as we had 100+ at Stoneleigh for a few years but only four others signed up. The Dutton Sierra in the picture was owned by our membership secretary and the Phaeton on the left has featured in my Monaco blog.

We camped, Jaguar won, perfect weather, and once the other 250,000 punters had departed we found our way onto the track - we were just passing the main stand opposite the pits when this was taken. I went again a good few times up until about '97 and saw Jaguar win again twice - I discount the Mazda win as I'm sure the ACO weighted its capacity equivalence to beat the XJR9s, which came 2nd, 3rd & 4th. Shades of the Lotus 23 debacle!

Happy Days!

Regards, Mick
