Hi from Texas
Just stumbled a few days ago over the 250 SWB, I showed it to my wife and she loves it.
It looks like I will build one sooner or later. Plenty info here in this forum - thank you to all contributors. I sent an email to Tribute about the shipping cost and we will go from there. I'm not new to the building cars, here are my last two cars... http://photos.imageevent.com/germanp...e/DSC09763.JPG http://photos.imageevent.com/germanp...06-11-2016.jpg That concept to use a Z3 is just great, looking forward to the email.... Cheers from Texas Pete |
Some nice looking builds.
Not cheap shipping, but I guess the exchange rates make the prices look good at the moment. |
What GT40 kit is that one?
|
Welcome to the forum Pete.
And happy Independence Day too. :usa: Cheers, Paul. :) |
Welcome
Hi Pete,
Welcome! :yo: I'll consider a direct swap for my car for your GT-40, if you pay shipping & importation costs on both cars? :becky: :becky: :becky: |
Chris at Tribute has recently returned from holidays. I suggest you PM Upstate Cobra Guy who just had 2 kits shipped to US.

molleur, DRB (Australian) MK1
Thanks Paul Eric, guess you are too late hehe http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Event...EATION--198513 Barber, thanks - will do that. |
Looked like a DRB, but wasn't sure. Are you on the gt40s?
|
I'm a Cobra guy in the core - I'm building two right now. The GT40 is just the absolute driving machine, just not open.
Easy to get tickets with it, so before I start collect any of them the car goes on the block. However, as much I like to drive them - as much I enjoy building cars. The 289FIA was a scratch build... http://imageevent.com/germanpete/accobra289fia :peace: |
Wow!
|
Peter Brock and Bill Shepherd inspired me to build the FIA, here take a spin with me....

No compromises in your builds then.
Great video, thanks for sharing. |
Don't mean to take away from the tribute kits but with your build experience (and possibly budget) you might consider doing a more exact replica 250swb. Have you seen what mirage auto is developing? You might be able to use a factory five cobra chassis and fit the mirage gt250 body to it. Then pick your running gear and set up the interior how you like.

But all round, looks like a much more expensive project.

You are right with the build skill/tools/room/budget. However, this car is primarily for my wife and I really like the idea of the using the Z3, taking off the body panels and work right away on the body. Very little electrical work and have that coupe on the road the same season. I see you point about the more accurate version, but quite frankly when I mention Ferrari 250 SWB - huh, what, ah what's that? And again, the ease of build is calling me, laying in the GT40 for hours upside down for the electrical/mechanical work was not that fun - especially when somebody else before me did $*&&^%$# work. So far I did not have any answer of my email from last Monday - I hope I have the right address.... info@tributeautomotive.com (?) Some nice builds here on this site! Cheers :tea::thumb: |
It sometimes takes a few days to get a response. I am visiting Tribute on Wednesday and will give Chris a reminder.
|
Barber, are you going down to place your order?
|
I am going to talk through options. Will get the z3 donor in the autumn after i finish up the Muscat work. Back there later this week, then at it pretty much to 2nd week of September.

Yes I did receive your email, thank you, and did reply with a shipping cost a few days later to your hotmail address. I have sent the reply again and PM'd you on this forum as a back up. I look forward to hearing back from you again. |
