The mk1 front doesnt allow for the proportions to look right. Progress hit a wall and stopped for 6 months. So the pre made panels should give it a direction. I probably should of gone down the 2vev path but didn't at the time. Plus my car is showing serious signs of rust so I'm trying to find a way of getting panels set up so I can save my donor from turning to dust before I get to drive it. A garage I used to do some repairs shut down and I think they damaged my body work and the rust has set in because of their incompetence. Probably why they shut down. Peoples exhausts were falling off. Etc .

They were a local company in the lovely town of Aldershot. Many army soldiers brought their sports cars to be modified and eventually found that the work done was shoddy. My car started off as an import with no rust and it came back after I asked them to put a stone chip treatment that rust is coming through so obviously they had just sprayed my car with black paint and not the thick tar stuff they were spose to do. Knowing that our roads are plastered with salt in the winter I invested in the treatment. Life sucks sometimes.

So if I can get the Alfa/fiat panels on I might be able to save my car from turning to dust. Harsh but that's life. Has a way of reminding you how puny man is and that we can only control so much, nature eventually bites back eg the English weather. Rain and more rain. Plus mans greed.

I've ordered a front wing and front end for the Alfa. And what I'm hoping is the rear wing for the fiat . So fingers crossed something arrives in the next two weeks. If it is what I think then possibly. I'll get a bonnet on the way and a passenger wing and go from their. The Dino rear I've been told takes alot longer so maybe new year will give me the answer I've been looking for. Id like to pop into the workshop next week to apply some rust treatment to keep it at bay. At the moment the back end can be adapted to work with Alfa front so that's a plus just needs a solid section placed across the wing and the taillight plate sunk in. They do rear wings as well so that will cut down on time. All profiles matching both sides saving tine and effort. Just needs blending into the swb roof line

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VACTAN-RUS...5pkU5IhpgzgyUQ Doesn't matter which body you end up with - mx5's need to be maintained against corrosion. I had my sills etc done before I commenced with the bodywork of my roadster. Thankfully the Z3 seems to have been prepared much better against corrosion. |

Im thinking Toyota MR-S donor built like the RS200 kit. I always thought the Tribute rs200 deserved more fans. |
Looks brutal and aggressive. Nice.
|
The Mr s has a similar system to the z3 with its panels so they all pop off.
|
Kind of batmans car mixed with a jag bertone concept.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Separate subject entirely, ever been to Specsavers? |
Ford mad max concept. Simon brook 11 concept car. Mid engine.

I wonder if dsg4me could combine the swb roof line with the Alfa Romeo junior 1600 gt . Eg swb down to the window line then Alfa down to the ground. I was thinking intercepter hard lines at the bottom and softer flowing lines at the top. That kind of thing. 70's meets 60's.

How about this version of the 250
"Tour de France" Looks like kobra front will lend to the design and 250 swb rear could be modified https://youtu.be/f1m_v6FFTq0 Video shows that these long distance racers were dainty, stripped down interiors and their v12 just 200bhp I love the blue period colour and the black exhaust isn't a trip hazard |
Maybe this is a direction for the future of kit cars
I understand why people spend a fortune on making Ferrari and Lamborghini replicas. Some are pretty convincing too even if the donor was a Peugeot. But there are lots more interesting shapes out there, plenty of tiny bespoke companies making super / hyper cars. In truth you wouldn't have to make an exact replica there are very few that have ever seen the likes of it. Heres a few for inspiration - Fenyr https://youtu.be/luT7zVSKGmg Lightning GT https://youtu.be/lD5bC23mmI8 Fisker https://youtu.be/hgCSz8PrM3c Zenvo https://youtu.be/0mkko2Sk4Q4 |
How about one of these
A sketch of concept car with its roof removed. I would love one of these Im sure the panels could easily be draped over Z3 Z4 or maybe E36 Bmw Convertible would give you 4 seat fun But I know this brand doesn't take kindly to people being influenced by their styling but if they don't want to build it :) http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/...psjcjnfpb1.jpg http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/...psa40h6z8g.jpg |

What could possibly go wrong? :peep: |

It sold within minutes of being listed. Slightly under-priced I think.....and they took an offer.

Call me nutty but I would like to see what an swb roof line would look on an Alfa Romeo 1750 gta body. Just curious . Hard broad lines like shoulders with the swoopy lines of the swb at the top.
|
Zag, I know of a 105 series roof if you're looking for one
|
:-). Well it would be for the glass returns and then have them tilted into the swb roof to keep with the 2 seater appeal. I was looking at a lancia fulvia hf roof but its too angular to flow into the softened lines of the guilea sprint gta 1965 style . What to do? I contacted one company and they wanted £500. 125 over my budget. And that's before tax and delivery.
|
That was for the back half not a whole roof. :-(
|
The Alfa 105 series (especially an early step-front GTA or Sprint) and particularly the series 3 Fulvia are amongst my prettiest ever cars. Unfortunately, you can't buy either for £100 any more. A Tribute would be fantastic
|
For that to happen you would need all the panels made up and finding an Alfa owner happy to have panels made up for molds. Such a challenge . Who would do such a thing
|
These guys can scan one for you and produce the buck for mould, at a price. http://3dengineers.co.uk/
I am half tempted to get a decent quality model car scanned and scaled up. You could then adjust the computer model to fit the hard points on the donor car and get the 'adjusted' model made into the molds. |
The rear window seemed to sit closely to the mg shape set in the swb. Finding returns for it to sit are where I'm looking at next .

Said gt/jnr on the description for the ploy rear screen. I sent that one back and will have to save up for the heated glass version. The heated rear glass version is £280 the poly version was £160. So quite a difference. Its creating the returns or where the glass sits. " classic Alfa" parts are available

Don't forget that the proportions of model cars are altered
And I will be altering them again to make a Porsche 906 fit onto a Boxster or similar. My thinking was that it would be a quick way to get a baseline model to start adjusting. Also, some of the larger scale models are not adjusted for scale and painfully accurate in details |
If I could use the rear glass on the 105 series i would. Trying to think of ways to get the recess for it to sit . Was thinking maybe using clay and sinking it in then maybe a mold taken of that with fibreglass. The rubber seals are available. :-(
|
Talking of 3d printing etc. If the surface was scanned and replicated in reverse this could give the recess ready for a mold . Then the rear screen could fit.

The rear surround would be good but a possible diagram of mentioned part be nice. If it gave the screen a place to go. Hopefully the lip doesn't mean the bit that the glass sits in. If you could contact Chris he could send you a pic of the panel I have which is part of the bottom of the screen.if the panel has the full shape for it to sit in that would be great.
|
More or less the area shown in yellow. It includes the C pillar up to (but not including the gutter), the top edge of the roof, and piece below the window and above the boot. Importantly, it will have the form to accept the window and rubber.
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...8b4dc667d4.jpg I've pm'd you the price. |
Id be happy to pay half the price if it means gaining access to to the use of it for my build. If
|
Don't how you would like to go about that. What is your location? Sorry if its mentioned in another build. I could leave the funds with Chris if your visiting their again.
