Geoff's 250 SWB Replica Build
Lets start of by saying my build is quite some time off , but as soon as you see something on Ebay that you just know is perfect then it wouldn`t be right not to purchase . So after spending time on Ebay/Italy and Ebay/Germany which have a greater choice of Carello and Marchal lights , i have bought the following ,
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Leuchtkappen-...item460444fad9 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1210496824...84.m1439.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2908409269...84.m1438.l2649 As per WCA`s build i will be using a Z3 probably the 6 cylinder version , Geoff . |
Nice detailing, Geoff. Do the lenses have a surround?
|
Thanks Gary , if you buy them with the correct surrounds/bulb holder the cost goes up by a factor of 3! so i intend to buy (probaly Lucas type) and fit my units to them , Geoff .
|
You have got to go for the 6 cylinder, the 1.9 four pot is a hateful engine. Every Z3 other than the 1.9 has a straight 6 from memory and the 2.8 or 3.0 are the pick of the bunch.
I will be posting up some pictures of mine soon along with some rubbish attempts at showing what I hope to do. The Z3 is a great base car in terms of easy of stripping down. What shell are you hoping to put on top? |
Buongoirno from Sunny Italy , arrived yesterday after driving the Alfa down 1300m from Chester and a week in Rimini , Geoff .
|
Not even a little bit jealous
|
Geoff do you have any pics or mock ups of what your kit will look like on the Z3?

Looks very cool mate, what is the car? (Not the Z3 obviously) :surprised:
|
Looks very cool... and not too distant from the mx250 moulds in places. that curved rear window might be challenging.
Modifying an existing mould/shape would be definitely easier than a 'from scratch' body. The challenge (Im looking at an alternative body at the moment) is modelling the car/panels unless a investment is made in a foam/clay model which is expensive. The alternative and done many times before is to 'borrow' a car to take the moulds from, this can obviously be tricky if the car is a £xMillion rarity. In talking to Chris who obviously knows much much more than me (and other bespoke builders), its generally an easier proposition with 'something' tangible to model from. Im sure though that Chris might offer a solution with a little ingenuity :-) |

250 SWB , more picturers on this website!http://www.foskers.com/ferrari-sales...wb-re-creation |
Very nice indeed, I reckon a test drive... have Chris ready with fibreglass and plastic to protect. Quick mould then drive back without them noticing its a bit dusty :icon_idea:
i think that it would be possible to mod an existing kit/mould we all know and love to reflect this lovely car. |
To be honest, it is only £295,000 so why not just buy that one?
;-) |
If only IT contracting was that lucrative! Geoff .
|
I like it a bit but its not my cup of tea, I preferred your mazza concept. Shoot me down but its a bit too run of the mill for me (ONLY MY OPINION GUYS :hand:)
|
I preferred my Masser concept too - if you make it down on the 29th it should be sitting in Chris's workshop waiting for me!!
