Sold it this year but here is (was) my Mk 2 Sumo. Always thought it was the best Mk 2 around (I never saw better) :eusa_snooty: Someone prove me wrong!! :eusa_pray:

 very sad to see it go. Started building it in 1991, finished and registered in 1995 and sold 2003. Loved it but it had to go in the end.

Here's my VVC GTM Libra shortly before being told to drive around the SVA centre and come back when the brakes work!! The bloke didn't fail it though so no retest fee....which was nice!
There are lots of things to do to it now it's SVAd but I can't be bothered as it's just too much fun just driving it!

ER, John...I think I got it wrong again!! How am I s'posed to do it??? :eusa_doh:

JG 30th October 2003 20:23

No problem Ferg the img url was referring to your page rather than the image.

The image was a bit big anyway so I've nabbed it made it smaller and uploaded it. Hope you dont mind.

Cheers, John

That's great John, I was amazed to see in this months 'Which Kit?' Nigel Dean lining up the Ultima outside that very lane and then getting the same inspector as me as well!!

if I knew how to do this sort of thing, this would be a picture of my Litton, as it was a couple of years ago. In 2005 (when i return to Blightey) it'll become Alien. I could link it:

On looking at other options, I was smitten by the Litton. It was smaller inside than an Esprit, but being self-built I could make it fit me, not the other way round. Of course, putting different seats into the Esprit would've been far easier, but eventually not so much fun. So what I'm really interested in is self-built cars, and having fun in them. Concourse cars are just too anally-retentive for me, and I don't care if the chassis plate is an exact copy of the original, or if the dash warning light is the correct shade of red. It accelerates well, handles well and feels like a extension of my body. The wheels must be exact, but no larger than 15" diameter. . . etc. I don't want to knock such attitudes, but I don't share them. SO for my benefit, and to maybe exorcise my being the black sheep of the Stratos crowd I am evolving the bodywork to something much less Stratos-like.

Welcome to the real world.

I'd love to join the Ferrari owners club, I'd even put a body kit on my MR2, but I still don't think the'd accept me????? :doubt:

This was my car and still is to a certain point Ive just taken it apart again and a lot of ppl will say its not a 'kitcar' but a body conversion :eusa_doh: and they will be quite right but my next project will get me there :eusa_pray:

Ferg 20th December 2003 08:43

Hey, no it isn't a kitcar and this is a kitcar forum, but......
that is the nicest body conversion I've ever seen!! It's a great colour for it as well!!

vojx 6th January 2004 10:43

Looks great, but its still a Jag to me. I'd be tempted to completely rework the interior, redesign the glass and rear quarters area and apply a 3-D dazzle ships paint job. But it still wouldn't be a mid-engined sportscar. What are your plans?

andy 10th March 2004 06:17

Here is my Ult...... it was my first Kit-car but will not be my last.

:eusa_boohoo:

In the Stratos community, there are many who want there car as exact a copy as possible, but there are equally as many who just want something that looks like a Stratos from the outside and want to enjoy driving it.

Your own plans for your car are EXTREME to say the least, but I don't believe anyone on StratosSupersite has discouraged you, or failed to help you with information, etc, just because of your plans.

As you know, my own car is far from an exact replica, and I'm more into making it a better car for use in my rally activities, than I am into it being an exact replica. Rallying is much more fun than having a car stood at a show, but, as you say, each to their own.

The following photo is of my car in action.
http://www.stratossupersite.com/WessexRope_001.gif

and hopefully another

http://www.stratossupersite.com/FatAlbert_002.gif

As you might realise from the pictures, having my car in concourse condition, is not my overriding concern.

Hopefully, we'll speak in the Stratos Forum soon.

vojx 22nd June 2005 12:18

this is hopefully what my stratos will morph into - maybe not exactly ;)

mirage countach lambourghini 25th anniversary

sorry i cannot post a picture but it is too big
however only a 5'11'' person like me can just about fit in with 32 inch leg!
its a wonderful automobile and almost but not quite unique
there are others but you know every kit car is unique really
i have modded and built
and unlike perhaps many of you i have designed too
and seem my drawings come to fruitionthe vauxhall coupe was made to the wrong scale ; some idiot at gm cannot read plans!
if you live locally and wd like to drop round for a cuppa and see ''the yellow thing'' as some cretin called it ; you are welcome
i also own a robin hood 2b with 36dcv (52mpg!) 0-60 you had better believe it a mg midget mk4 a transit motor home a locust 7 with similar pinto mill but twin 40's that i am thinking of modding yet again its funny ... kit cars are rarely if ever ''finished'' sometimes the 'pause' on a build is time to test and reasses the situation ready for further mods later.with the dollar/pound and recession its maybe a time to get that big bloc sent over from the states.
great thread thankyou

This is a most unique vehicle which I have been rebuilding for the past 4 years, having originally built the vehicle in 1979. I have started a blog with complete data of the build and detailed photos and some interesting characters on the way to the build. Here is the link to the blog: http://nigeljosephparr.blogspot.com/

Show us your kit car

There are many considerations that you would have take into account when you are looking for Kit car insurance to ensure that you get the best deal on your insurance and everything in the policy that you need. As you will have built up your Kit car piece by piece it is unlike any vehicle that you buy in the showroom and as such it would need specialist insurance so you would have to take cove with a company that offers tailored insurance.

Show us your kit car

Hi,
Obviously everyone who drives a kit car needs to have insurance. The main players in kit car insurance are Adrian Flux and Footman James, although if you buy a copy of kit car magazine there are loads of adverts from companies who will insure your kit car. I recently was thinking of buying a Phantom Vortex GTR, a beautiful car with stunning looks and use it as my everyday car.
