Wire Wheel Adaptors
 
Does anyone have the details concerning the source of reasonably priced wire wheel adaptors from Poland that was discussed at Stoneleigh? I'm collecting parts for a Z300S Barchetta build (thread to follow).
So looking to mount Jaguar wires on 5xM12x120mm PCD hubs.

Hi Ian,

I happen to have some Jaguar chrome wire basket wheels, they are 15 inch bolt on, but have a chrome curly-hub thing that goes on and hides all the bolts, so they look very much like the 72 spoke knock on wires. I had them on my MK!! Jag briefly. They also have four brand new tyres fitted to them.

I will try to get some pictures if you are interested.

Hi Scottie- could be interested but are they wire wheels or steelies with a wire basket? Also what PCD is the Jag hub?

They are steelies with a wire basket, but because of the hidden wheel nuts they look like knock ons, with the curly hub.
The PCD would be the same as MKII Jag, E-Type Jag, Daimler Jag early XJ6, which was (or is) 5 X 4.75inch (120.65mm) with 1/2 inch UNF studs

Just tried to measure my wheel's PCD, and I may have mis- quoted the size above! I will have to check tomorrow.
It does not look as large as 4.75.

You might be able to use spacers to change the PCD. Basically you bolt the spacer to the hub and the wheel to the spacer.

Probably cheaper than hub adaptors but I am happy to be proved wrong as it was me who said about the cheap adaptors from Poland and then forgot all the details

As the PCD difference is only 0.65mm, wobble bolts would do the trick.
Also, the M12 bolts are 0.5mm smaller than the 1/2" UNF Jag studs.
The standard bolts might even fit depending on seat taper angle.

I ordered mine in China and I am very content with it, good quality, fast delivery and with shipping I paid 69,50 pounds !
Mounting on picture is without the wider kit and lower tires.

Hi Ian, it's Pat if those china imports have your BMW to Jag fitment go for it as the WWS are 3X's the price. Have you used your ally solder/weld yet? If you've ran out Moss classic car parts sell it

I had some PCD adaptors made a long time ago for use on my Lotus Seven S1 for Standard 10 to Herald/Spitfire steelies, wouldn't use them again for preference. I really want some wire wheel adaptors to mount Jag wires on the BMW hub. Readily available I know but just looking for the best price.
Not used the solder weld yet- need a higher temperature gas gun first.

The Z3 has alloy wheels at present so to fit Jaguar wire wheels I need some splined adapters. I don't need adapter spacers. Presumably all you got for 69.50 is the pink bits.

Ahha, sorry misunderstand, so the spilined adapters you need are the hubs ? I assumed you had Jag wire wheels with the Jag hubs and needed the adapters to adjust to fit , like my adapters from 4 x 104.3 to 4 x 100, ...........

No problem. Yes, the splined parts form the hub on which the wheel is mounted- just like yours.
But the base of those will be bolted to the Z3 hub with no intervening sandwich!!!

As most kits for the MX5 and BMW Z3 require spacers/adapters, because of a wider body, I combine this with the PCD adapter for mounting the original donor hub for wire wheels.
As for direct mounting I can order undrilled ones 42mm or 52mm curly from factory and drill the needed holes accoording to the PCD.( CNC ofcourse!)

Here is a picture of the splined adaptor I had made for my Z3. I guess if you want it spaced out further you would just get the base plate made thicker

Wow...you made them especialy for your BMW with the right PCD ! and even can get the base plate thicker....no skills here to do that.....
Anyway if so, i guess it would be much more expensive , then to order the standard undrilled and use spacers....

The ones I'm considering are from MWS and are standard Jaguar fitment with a PCD of 120.6mm and drilled for 1/2" (12.7mm) studs. I'm guessing that standard tolerances mean that they will fit the 120mm PCD and 12mm bolts of the BMW Z3 base car.

I have no concerns over the quality of the MWS offering. What grade steel are the ones you have Jeff?

I have literally just received my first 2 wire wheels by courier. They have 42mm long splines which don't appear to be sharp, a good sign. I was surprised by the diameter of the hub bore- about 70mm.

@Nick- they have some interesting Spanish Bridgestone 195/70x15 Light Truck tyres fitted. Load index 104/102 !!! Not much flex in those sidewalls I bet. They are barely legal so it's all down to those Avon ZV5 or the Maxxis MA AS winter tyres I think. Both V speed rated.

I'll cross post a lot of this info on my build thread once I have everything sorted.
