What paint for an air cooled engine?
I am rebuilding the Guzzi V-Twin for my Pembleton. Originally it was (badly) powder coated but this is long past its best. Does anybody have any advice of what paint I should use on the crankcase? Being air cooled it will get quite a bit warmer than a water cooled block. Also, it's alluminium so I suppose it will need an etch primer if the paint is to be long lasting?
Paint for the barrels and heads is less of a problem as there seems to be plenty of paint on offer specifc to that use. Thanks for any advice Robin |
Brake Caliper spray paint is nice stuff to use and is good up to 900 deg F.
It's a bit thicker than Hammerite so gives a nice smooth finish, but it's softer so more vulnerable to scratches. And you probably don't need a primer? |
