Inner wheel arch

Would there be an issue if I cut out part of the inner rear wheel arch on my MX5 ?
Are they structural ? I’m still getting a rub and I want to lower it further .

That might be a question already answered on the MX owners forums. Gotta be a lot of slammed MX's on there who've had to tub the rears. I'd be interested to hear the answer tho, as mine has now started to rub too, but I think that might be because the extra leverage and weight of the 17s I put on it has caused damage. What size wheels are you running?

I’m 19 stone ! But it rubs on the passenger side .
I’m running 16 inch wheels with 225 50 tyres , so may get some smaller profile tyres and see if that helps

Depends how bad the rubbing is. If its just very slight and only happens once in a while you could simply give it a slight "adjustment" with a lump hammer. 1/2" of extra clearance might be all it needs.

I have done so much “adjustment “ with my hammer , I need to try a different approach .
Going to try the tyres with a smaller profile . Fingers crossed

An entire afternoon of hammering , banging and cutting . Hopefully sorted the wheel rub.
