42mm spines is NOT Jaguar, Jag wheels are 52mm Spines!

Mine are old Aston Martin wheels and have 42mm spines. I have one spare off the car if you want to compare and measure up.

This photo shows the spline length (sort of) believe me, it is 42mm which is not Jaguar and Jag adaptors will not work

I donot know yet what grade , as I just ordered the 4 undrilled ones, but they are all from the same factory, so....and they come with TUV certificate.
I donot know anything about spines, but I could order both, so standard 42 or 52., but most of the secondhand wire wheels here are 42 spines.
PayPal payment was about 105 Pounds...shipping was more than a hub, haha

Well I now have 4 of 15" wire wheels, all reputedly from Jaguars, with 42mm splines and 72 spokes each. Time for a jolly good clean, ping all the spokes and replace a couple of missing ones.

I paid a visit to the experts this evening- Motor Wheel Services in Langley, Bucks.

They pointed out the number 455 stamped on the rim which identifies them as original Dunlop rims fitted to Jags but they are #52 hubs which has nothing to do with the spline count, length, width or the colour of your favourite money. In fact, there's nothing on the wheels that could be measured or counted that would give you that exact number. It's down to the size of the bearing in the car's hub !!!

Their technical info shows:

Wheel Type 52
Actual Hub Diameter 73mm
Number of Splines 88
Spline Length Short Hub 37mm
Spline Length Long Hub 62mm

So the wheels can be identified from those dimensions but nothing is 52 anything.

Note 1: The wheel type designation refers to the maximum size of outer bearing, in millimetres, which can be used with that hub.

Note 2: Actual hub diameter is measured across the outside of the splines on the car and not the wheel itself. Dimensions are ±½mm.

Makes me glad I was ignorant of as this and just bought the wheels and got the hub adapters made from them.

I thought there were only two types so will watch with interest as you resolve this one

Everyone I spoke to (and I tried all of the companies who say they can make these adapters) either couldn't or wouldn't make them for my MX so I've bought some new alloys.

Zero offset so they should compensate for the wide arches front and back. I can always space them out a bit more if needed.

Tried them, been waiting three weeks for information. I'm happy with the alloys I've chosen as I think they will probably better suit what I'm trying to achieve with the car anyway and the problems forced me to make a decision.
