Couple questions for turbo builders

Hi,

Can someone send me a photo of the boost pressure sensor please?

I pulled my T16 engine out of a Rover 600 about 8 years ago, I seem to have lost the sensor and I have no idea what it looks like!

Secondly, is the fuel tank purge valve used at all?

Cheers

Hi,

Purge valve I never used. Use the outlet on the inlet for a boost gauge ;)

Boost pressure valve standard Rover has three outlets on it with an electrical connector to ECU.

Can get a manual one like I did quite cheap. Mine died so that was the route I did. But different car to drive. Instant full boost!

Thanks for the reply.

So am I right in thinking that, where the RAVE manual refers to a boost pressure 'sensor' it is actually referring to this:

http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-PMK10006

Which is more of a boost pressure 'regulator'? If so that's great because I have this part :)

Also, looking at the RAVE wiring diagram it looks like the MEMS system doesn't have a management light.. that correct?

And if the above is true, can I leave the bleed valve and boost regulator electrically disconnected without getting any issues with the management side of things?

Cheers

Where in Rave does it boost pressure 'sensor'? Just so I can confirm.

That picture is what I was thinking but Boost control solenoid

No management light for mems :)

Won't get any problems with mems. But won't get full boost without boost controller. About 7PSI if your lucky and actuator spring ok (very doubtful). But if you have it, use it :)

I'll send you some photos on Facebook chat :)

But in case anyone else reads this in the future it's pin C159-14 on the MEMS ECU which goes to pin C170-2 on the Boost Pressure 'Sensor'

That looks like the part :) Just being called different things between models:)

ECU will steadily control amount of boost, using that part, until 11.7 PSI as the revs and throttle are applied. So say 11.7 PSI at the top end.

The manual ones will give you full boost as soon as the turbo is ready at approximatly 2.5K revs!
