Advice on a partly built sylva Phoenix

Hi everyone,
I have always wanted to build my own kit car but never had the time or the money to start. Recently I was put in touch with a guy who started to build a Sylva Phoenix back in 2001 and has about 60% of it finished but really hasn't done anything to it in the past 5 years. He would be willing to sell it at a cost of £3000. So basically I am wanting a bit of reassurance that the price is right. The chassis has a Honda blackbird engine fitted with a reverser gearbox supplied. Front suspension, hubs and brakes fitted. Rear axle from a serria with hubs and brakes fitted. He also has the body and various other bits and pieces. So if there is anyone out there that I can speak to about this project that I am hopefully going to take on I would be most grateful.
Regards David.

Hi David, sounds an interesting and comprehensive pile of bits that must have been compiled at some cost, all I can say is check and double check that a sylva phoenix possibly manufactured in year 2000 can pass the current iva test otherwise you are going to be making a rather fast and expensive track car also budget for the iva test and a re test in your costings its not cheap. Some of the guys in the marlin section have had the devils own job of getting their cars through and maybe can offer more advise, try getting written confirmation from the sylva factory that it's passable, also you need sales receipts for numerous and various components from factory and various before and after photos for the dvla to register and get a v5. Paul L on the sammio \ miglia section may be a source of vast information for you there.
Hope it can be done and you do a build thread. Ed.

Hi Ed
Thanks for taking the time to reply to me. I had no idea about the fees for the IVC were so expensive. Boy was I shocked. The guy who owns the car has all the relevant documents for the chassis and components, he also assures me that it can be put on the road, I will get in touch with Sylva just to make sure. More to think about, its all very daunting. Thank again and I will keep you posted if I purchase. Regards David.
