Back on the road after help from wife - now I have sticky steering

The suspension is smooth and silent and, after a quick trip to the Tyre Shack, all pointing in the right direction. Great to be back driving it again.

The sticky steering issue seems to have returned. I am not sure if it is a dry connection in the steering linkage or a failing PAS pump.

Having seen what is involved is replacing the PAS pump I am hoping it is a dry joint.

Possibly photos to follow

Could it be the drive belt slipping on the PAS pump pulley? I had that on my 733i, especially in the wet. Quite entertaining on a big barge like that. New belt, job done.

Went to take mine out yesterday as a treat from spending the whole day under another car trying to free the barakes off, only to find fluid pissing out somewhere around the steering rack.
Haven't been under it yet but am hoping for a holed rusty pipe. Spent too long under the other car yesterday so have promised myself a beer day today.

I've been complaining about how little progress I have been making due to months of cold wet weather and then yesterday...........it's too hot!

It was 40c in my garage yesterday afternoon so not much progress ! A shiny new steering wheel turned up in the post so it did move forward a bit ! Saturday looks better with wind and rain so I'll get some more done with any luck.

I will jack up the front at the weekend and have a look. Squirting WD40 at the joint half way down the shaft has quietened it but not made it easier

Must be a virus going round. I checked underneath the Z300S today and found that the power steering pipes were damp with fluid in places. No actual drips so have dried everything off and will check again after a few more miles. And get some fluid to keep in the boot.
