Wow, that engine looks super clean. Great photos, keep 'em coming :)

I am assuming triple weber or dellorto carbs?
nice work Freeman, looks well smart!

freeman41 3rd April 2013 20:53

Yes I'm using triple dellorto carbs and hoping it will all fit in the engine bay but possibly may need a scoop.

tlrtone 3rd April 2013 21:01

A scoop or a bulge should do it.
It will depend on the air filters as they will sit just where the bonnet dips.

That will sound awesome, love the induction roar of the triples!

Looking very nice freeman, have you had the registration inspection done?

davecymru 4th April 2013 10:31

I do love that rocker cover! It's what i'd had planned for mine before things all went a bit weird :)

AndyP85 5th April 2013 07:42

Lovely images of the engine. Can't wait to see more pictures in the near future!

freeman41 7th April 2013 18:55

Psycho, The build is still a very long way off yet, so I haven't registered it. I thought it had to be completed and inspected before registering? Will keep the pics coming.

Psycho pops 7th April 2013 20:24

The reason i asked was i see the end of the front bar have dropped off, be careful with trimming the chassis before inspection. The majority of us fit the body with rear outriggers protruding through the body for the inspection, you dont need the bonnet fitted or car running for that. Where is you nearest Dvla as that can be a lottery too.

Mister Towed 8th April 2013 07:56

Agree with 'Pops comments above, received wisdom is to have the car inspected with no bits of chassis missing. I got the feeling that the Peterborough inspector who looked at mine wouldn't have made an issue of it if I had cut 6" off the boot riggers, but you never know...

As for the DVLA centres, Peterborough and Poole both know what they're dealing with when you present them with a Sammio, so I'd recommend you make the journey to one of those. But be quick, I believe the Govt are planning to move all the inspections to Swansea and close the local offices. :(

freeman41 8th April 2013 19:13

Thanks for the heads up Guys. My car at the moment has no seats, brakes or instruments, does it need to be further on and to what level or can it be inspected now? I'm about 3/4 months away from completion at my current pace.

tlrtone 8th April 2013 19:24

Freeman, mine went like this...

http://www.mysammiospyder.co.uk/imag...e_IMG_1070.jpg

no interior, not wired in and working, no bonnet etc...

they give is a quick check over in terms of engine number and chassis number and thats it. About 10 minutes in Poole. Then again, Mike did say recently that they made a load of redundancies in Poole, so I am not sure what will happen now. I will take my Miglia Speedster down at the end of the month and let you know as it is the same process.
