Especially if it can be put together in the same frightening speed as some of the Kobra builds.

Good luck, Paul. :)

Thanks Paul. With the additional roof, roll cage, door skins and side window mods it won't be as quick to build as the Kobra, but shouldn't take too much longer.

Front vents now have their raised edges added:

Purple primer rubbed out, back to "50 shades of grey" (how much do I, and every man I know, not want to go and see that one at the cinema!!!) again:

Shiny red tomorrow. It won't be a perfect finish but will give a better surface to mould from.

Mister Towed 29th January 2015 09:01

Oooh, that's going to look so good in silver.

And red I suppose, sniff.

I am Kevin and new to the forum.
I have been looking at the Kobra and mx250 kits.
But when I saw this kit I was sold.
This thing looks really beautiful!
What will a kit cost when it is done?

hurnleft 29th January 2015 20:16

It looks fantastic Chris, You and Dan must be knackered keeping up this rate of progress.
There's a couple more petrol cap related questions on the 'Kebab" thread when you get a chance to look.

Cheers, Bob.

Okay Chris, the 250 maybe one of my all time favourite cars and I may have been a bit sceptic when I spoke to you on the phone the other day, but WOW, what a fantastic job you've done. The lines look just right, don't know if I want to do the 300 now! Just kidding like my convertibles to much.

Same here- I've always thought it was a shame to make a convertible into a hardtop but what a fantastic looking machine. And with the 2.8, it won't be a slouch either.

Jaguartvr 29th January 2015 23:55

+3 Love the shape but I don't think I could live with a tin top.

I do think taking the mould after painting is a better idea, will give builders a much easier starting point.

Great work.

Axel 30th January 2015 08:15

Very cool!!! :-)

Mister Towed 30th January 2015 08:17

That's just beautiful and an unbelievable transformation from the (fuglyimho) Z3.

I have no problem with it not being a convertible any more. Convertibles are for p*ssies, real men have a proper open top with no roof, doors or windscreen to use 364 days a year and a SWB for the odd day when it rains so hard it makes your head bleed. ;)

Also interested in seeing the kit price btw.

Thanks Bob, yes we are both a bit frazzled, but it's well worth all the effort. I will have a look at your tread in a mo.

Hi Chris
Will the front body section open using the original Z3 bonnet hinges like on the prototype because otherwise access to the motor looks very limited through the 250 bonnet?
Are the side windows complete with all fittings?
Are the grill slats an exact fit to the opening as is, because I'd like to open out the bottom corners to make it less smiley, like many of the production cars.
Cheers,Steve

Mitchelkitman 30th January 2015 23:22

Wow - that looks great - Can't wait to see it at Stoneleigh

mobilerobbie 31st January 2015 08:24

Hmm, never noticed that before, but you're right, there are subtle differences between cars.

Smiley grille -

Or flat bottomed grille -
