New rear setup! Does it matter?
 

Which way round the uprights go?

I know John changed his around but does it actually make any differance?

I take it that marlin intented the calipers to fit on the rear instead of the front like the mk1 setup?

John, How did you push your old bearings out of the old uprights?

Looks like a similar issue to that experienced by John Ilett - disc is the wrong size for the carrier / caliper, resulting in incomplete pad contact.

Craig, the offer of the calipers is there if you find you need them to make the new components work (ish).

May have similar problems as mine even though nutter is using SEAT components instead of Rover.

I would contact Marlin, Craig and ask them if it should be mounted at the rear of the hub. Ask for some photos of how they should be mounted (good luck I did not get any).

When trying to mount on the front of the hub, the bashed on the lower wishbone at ful droop.

As for pressing out the hubs, IAN (Merlnman) had a 5 tonn press to help them out with. Not clued up up these things but used some iron to press the hubs out.

Garage may do it for a small fee.

I asked Marlin the very same question, and the reply was at the rear. Hence I fitted mine at the rear.
The Marlin race car is also configured with calipers at the rear on the rear, but at the front on the front, if that makes sense.

The disc, carrier and caliper are all new but are identical to those that came from the donor, (seat leon) if anything perhaps there is a problem with mounting holes on the Marlin supplied rear upright, could be closer to the center of the hub.

What year almera discs do I need?

Does anyone have a part number for the wheel bearings? Or which model rover and whether they are front or back?

Been into my local rover specialist this morning and they are telling me they are only sold as a whole unit (including hub) but I know this is not the case!

I was trying to buy the rear bearings when it's the fronts I needed!

The photo is for the rear bearings
My front bearings for the Marlin came with the drive plate for a VAG rear setup
the VAG rears make the Marlin fronts, it gets confusing when for suppliers when the engine is now at the back.
fronts are backs, backs are fronts.

The rover fronts are the marlin rears! So that part number is no good! So still need rover front wheel bearing number if anyone has it?

No part number required, the same wheel bearing was fitted to every 25 / ZR / 200, and I also believe it was fitted to the 400.

You should be able to just walk into a unipart and request a Rover 25 front wheel bearing.

There are also plenty for sale on ebay, here's one for example:

Hi Craig.

The discs I have are Nissan Almera N15 2.0 GTI rear discs.

They have them on www.brakeparts.co.uk 15.60 (ex vat) each 258mm. But I thought the MRG ZR 1.8 discs would work as they are 260mm. But not tried them.

But I would strongly suggest you contact Marlin as they could well have made changes to the hub that is on mine. And could be different.

John thanks for link I think I had hassle as I was asking for rear bearings!

John cheers for discs! Terry told me rover discs would not fit although it was a while ago! Not really sure why but may wait and see as mine currently runs 260 tears
