IVA submitted

Hi all
Im still here :)

My work has blocked this website under an entertainment category, so posting and reading is really hard now.

Ive also just sent ov my IVA application so am waitng for a test date!!

Fingers crossed it doesnt take too many attempts to pass, and it will be on the road for the spring.

Steve

Steve

I asked Leicester IVA test centre for their leadtime, and was surprised it is only 4 days!!

Chris Cussen 16th February 2012 07:25

Good luck!

no surpise...........

no surprise it failed (11th April)

Nothing too bad / serious....

Headlights not aligned.
steering boss not collapsible
driver door lock 2nd catch didnt work. It did when I last i checked it :noidea:
Brake balance bar not secure enough, needs additional nuts/ or weld.
and a new one on me. An indeminty sticker needs putting near the master cyclinders warning about changing the balance setup!!

Re-test is booked for the 19th April.
Hopefully this time is should go through no problem :)

Cheers
Steve

Not too bad then. I'm surprised about the brake balance, I thought it must be welded, in which case you would not need the sticker. (but then my test was 3 years ago)

Good luck with the re-test

peterux 13th April 2012 18:25

That's a rather disappointing list of failures considering you went to the trouble of getting Marlin to prepare the car and present it for IVA.

I can kind of understand the brake bias issue as this always seems to be a subject of debate with VOSA as to what is, and what isn't accepted, but the other things are basic IVA (and the same as SVA) requirements that Marlin should have spotted and picked up in their own pre-checks.

I wonder who's paying for the retest?? :noidea:

limpabit 19th April 2012 06:51

Not a bad result Steve. Is it only a partial retest on the failed items? Partial fee as well?

bigrich 19th April 2012 17:58

Nearly there Steve - am I right in thinking that you paid Marlin to IVA prep the car and present it for test?

If so then I support 'Peterux' view - as the manufacturer they should present a car that passes 1st time - I can understand bulb failures etc as these can happen anytime.....but headlight aim, steering boss not collapsible and driver door lock 2nd catch ?? - no excuses.

...I'm assuming you've passed retest today - and it hasn't cost you any extra??

HI

Car passed on the 2nd re-test. (Friday 27th April)
All previously failed parts passed on the re-test except the headlight fell out, not sure why or how, but it did, so that made the 1st re-test a fail.
That was put back in and passed on the 2nd re-test.

Am paying the partial re-test fee, for both tests, i belive.

Now to get it registered, hopefully my first drive will May bank holiday weekend, hope the sun will be out by then.

Cheers
Steve

Good work.

Be careful when you first take it out, these cars can bite the adventurous.

Can vouch for what John said and being adventuruous. Been there, done that!

Know time to start planning modifications post IVA!

One hopes the later chassis handle significantly better and have better roadholding than the early versions!

nutter 2nd May 2012 08:46

Cheers for the heads up guys.
Will let you know what happens,

Hope the weather dries up a bit, as I dont have any wet weather gear for the car.

Still to get it registered, hopefully get that done today (wednesday) then I can order some plates from the internet.

Post IVA jobs, that list is growing quick !!!
Mainly its all body work trimming and tidying up.
