wheel ideas?
It would be helpful to me if we could have a thread about suitable wheel suggestions for the mx250
Finding very low offset wheels is quite difficult , but this is what I have been looking at so far.... Suggestions welcome :) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ULTRALITE-...AAAOSwstxVVbqS http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-x-Rota-A...4AAOSwu-BWQaC8 |
It is an old thread , but mostly about the MX250 range.

Try ebaying 4x100 alloys e30.
The bmw e30 takes the same pcd and unlike clios etc quite common to see et's around 20. |

New here myself too. Only been at my build for 5weeks and, like you i was confused over the whole wheel / offset / tyre situation. I have used a MK2 donor, rolled the rear arches and can tell you what i have gone for and what in hindsight works / doesn't work. I made the mistake of ordering 25mm spacers for the back end (over 100 quid) before i had found my wheels. I then found a decent set of 16x8 Dare DCC's with near new tyres on (good price). These werent staggered, had an offset of 20, and have 195/55/16 tyres on. The fronts are spot on, the rears (even with the spacers) look a little lost in the rear arches. I will be changing the rea tyres to a 225 width to give the back end a wider stance, but even then they would bnefit from wider spacer (might have a look on the Bay for some 2nd hand). In my (humble) opinion find the wheels you like that are going to fit, then play about wih a tape measure / steel rule to give you an idea of tyre size / spacers. Hope the build goes well, and don't be afraid of asking questions - I have asked some crackers believe me!!! |
See what you think of these:

So again I can only speak from my own experience, my MX250 is based on a Mk1 MX5, I managed to purchase a staggered set of Compomotive wheels that are:
The fronts will not have spacers they fit quite well and the rears after a bit of measuring and probably trimming back the arch lip from the new body will get 25mm spacers max once the car sits better after settling following a bit of running. I hope that kind of helps |
It does help thanks.
Are there any BBS reps that are et0? |
|
I'm quite a fan of rota. They have some nice retro wheels. If your not looking for wire wheels. Kei racing have some very light deep dish wheels. Team dynamics have some very light racing wheels that have taken on a retro flavour as well.

I keep looking at those dare rs wheels, when I messaged the various sellers about what offsets are available, they never give me a straight answer, iv pretty much got my heart set on BBS rep style wheels

Just noticed while browsing, that those lenso bsx BBS reps are available in a 8.5 inch wide et15. Though I believe they have a reputation for being rather cheap and nasty

If you are referring to the wheels you posted the link to, they are Dare's not Lenzo's. Dare are what I have put on mine and they are pretty good.

I do love these

If budget allows look at image wheels. You may also have luck with a Japanese parts importer/warehouse or yahoo auctions Japan.
