slightly battered grille adds character!

It looks lovely as it is, but if you want to play about a bit, how about simulating the more flared type used by Alfa in their late 40's early 50's cars as the nose flares out to the front axles anyway?

Cheers guys.

Yeah I did think of the wider grill at the bottom .... but it's getting the grill that would be an issue - I'd have to have one made ...... so although it would look great, it causes more expense and hassle.
At least with the Jag grill it's easy to get and replace etc

😲😱😨 Horror! Italian flare, literally.

molleur 11th December 2018 19:23

Nooooooo

Car photographer 12th December 2018 01:50

Haha

So I test fitted the two options for the nose cone today .... trying to decide which is better?? (ignore the colour and the wonky headlight on cone 1)

Cone 1 ...

Both look good, but cone 1 has the edge for me.

molleur 29th December 2018 16:25

Cone 1 looks better to my myopic eyes!

Lucky@LeMans 29th December 2018 17:57

I like the second one if you were to matt black behind the opening so it looks like a starter handle access hole. Maybe small profile black piping to go between the grill and the nose to finish it off nicely ?

froggyman 29th December 2018 19:17

Personally I prefer the second option with the dummy starting handle opening. Why not have both nose cones and just have a change every now and again as it looks great with either and is purely a matter of personal opinion. Car looks great especially in that colour.

Car Photographer The good news is that either option will work.

Although I quite like the Cone 2 option, as it reminds me a little of this build that fitted a new tow eye in the old starter hole.

Good luck, Paul. :)

So I've finally got the nosecone back and onto the car - Here's how it looked before (still have this front - they are now interchangeable)

Nice work, it really looks the part.

Mick O'Malley 17th April 2019 06:49

Love those sidelight nacelles. Classy!

Regards, Mick

Car photographer 17th April 2019 08:30

Cheers everyone

Barber 17th April 2019 11:19

Despite my suggestion on grill shape, I think you have got this spot on. Well done.
