These guys have taken over the day to day running of nubodi’s operation apparently

"Small family run business specialising in the manufacture and supply of body conversion kits for the BMW Z3"

If I was Tribute I would take great exception to somebody else claiming to manufacture the kits.

According to the Daytona Replica owners club, Richard Bird is moving to France.

Lucky@LeMans 11th August 2018 14:15

Richard told me himself that he would be moving to France later in the year.

I hope to be doing the same thing in a couple of years time when my daughter has finished university !

smash 11th August 2018 17:50

Good luck to him. I know we had a fall out but water under the bridge and actually, we had a lot of laughs. Whatever is said you cannot deny he's passionate about what he does. Ferrari were heavy handed in dealing with the trade dress I think. If i hadnt had a higger offer id have had no problem selling the 250 to him. Genuinely wish him well

Popped around here today but just a house on a housing estate in Basingstoke with a couple of cars under covers on the front drive?

I don't think they have taken over as such ...They have been handed the opportunity to step on where Nubodi have stepped off ... My understanding is they have a trade supply or agent deal with Chris and Nubodi no longer trades ...

In the history of kit car supply, that is not so unusual. The main thing is that Tribute and Old No. 7 are in a proper workshop, even if it isn't modern.

classiccoachworks 23rd September 2018 13:26

Hi all.
we have indeed taken up the challenge and work in conjunction with the very talented Chris of tribute automotive.

we've been very proud to let get to know existing members of the tribute automotive community and are enjoying building our own cars and cars for customers, as well as advising newbies on their first build.

I'd like to point out that the website address is a postal address.

we do not trade from an estate. Not that it would matter as Richards base was indeed from home.

we have a workshop unit we keep the address private because It is in a secure compound that is locked at night. im sure you'll all understand the issues of sector with any work premises that houses many thousands in desirable tools and parts.

home address has our current demonstrator cars and Some of our own private collection of cars

Very pleased to be featuring in madaboutkitcars already and I'm having a fantastic response from everybody on the tribute automotive Facebook group and also kit car and build groups across the UK and beyond

we have prospective orders from as far as America and are really enjoying ourselves in this new community.

we have years of experience in vehicle industry (yes that's even me...the girl of the group!)

we also have a fully trained main dealer BMW mechanic on hand which is kinda handy with the Z3 donor.

If anybody wants to know anything or have their fears allayed in ref to our seemingly newness...please do you message me.

Chris is an incredible guy to work with and we catch up ourselves as very very fortunate..

Looking forward to meeting and working with many more people as our adventure continues

we are still learning and I think that goes for everybody in this industry.... so please go gentle with us!

advice is always appreciated and well taken happy Building everyone

Belle ( from the estate not to be confused with Jenny from the block)

Hi, we have indeed been thrown the gauntlet and are really enjoying ourselves.

I Can see how that could be read the wrong way. We are working in junction with the very talented Chris of tribute automotive and changing things a little in that we will be able to provide all the aftermarket parts should customers wish to have them at a similar price that you get from manufacturers. we don't make a great deal of money on parts but it is nice to have them all in one place especially for the new builder who wouldn't necessarily know where to source them and doesn't need a headache in doing so .

Always happy to accept any comments advice and even criticism after all that's how we learn

if anybody has any questions at all please ask

we have a workshop.. people that are turning up at the house are coming to the postal address on website.... and yes you do have to drive through an estate to get to it as I'm sure most houses you do

looking forward to learning from all the people that have been involved with tribute for a lot longer than we have.

Happy building all.

Lucky@LeMans 23rd September 2018 14:13

Good to hear from yourselves. I wish you all the best at taking over where Richard left off. You'll have your work cut out if you maintain the same volume of orders that Richard was getting, good luck !

Barber 23rd September 2018 14:29

Good luck with the Tribute stuff. State your position and don't feel you have to justify it. So long as you remain on good terms with Chris, it will be fine.

classiccoachworks 23rd September 2018 15:10

Hi guys

thank you so much for the rapid responses and all positivity ...it does help to have support!

Chris is brilliant like myself he likes honest people and no games so all is looking rosy.

looking forward to really getting to grips over the winter with many projects.. especially a coupe...

happy building all

Good to see your enthusiasm. One thing that (IMHO) was missing from the 2018 Stoneleigh show was a 'manufacturer's stand' - although there were a few owners cars. In a previous show Nubodi and Tribute had (forgive me if this isn't an accurate description) a shared stand, and this seemed to generate a lot of interest. As with all dedicated shows any sales generated over the weekend may not lead to immediate orders, but pave the way for the year ahead! Maybe worth giving some consideration, as Stoneleigh is a MASSIVE show.

classiccoachworks 23rd September 2018 16:46

Hi there

I absolutely agree and it is something we're looking at for next year

unfortunately as we only tookon the business earlier on in the summer we have hit the ground running ( I don't think my feet touched the floor in the last 3 months) so we did miss the chance to do a lot of shows

we will speak to the big boss in deepest darkest Dorset and see what he thinks about next year.... certainly be good idea

thank you.
Belle and Ian.

Jaguartvr 23rd September 2018 19:34

A build thread on the forum always generates a lot of interest which hopefully will generate some business for you as well.
Each build has a couple of new ideas or workarounds. We haven't had a detailed dash or interior build and you have obviously done an interior. Again it could well generate some business from completed cars whose owners want to go to the next level.

molleur 23rd September 2018 20:31

Yes, please do so. Interior and dash detail builds are sadly lacking on the forum.

classiccoachworks 23rd September 2018 20:48

hi chaps.
that's definetly on the list for winter.
we are taking the interior out of the current kobra demonstrator when time allows and will document everything.
we're also developing a cobra dash... and possibly a slightly easier to work with and build kali dash.

pretty swamped at the moment which is brilliant, but as soon as time allows will document more walk throughs and builds.

there's a basic walkthrough of the cobra on the website, and we will add to that as soon as possible.

Thank you again chaps. All input and advice is appreciated

with winter coming it's prime build time and we do have a couple upgrades in pipeline for interiors of customers so if not our own, we will document them.

happy Sunday all.

using voice typing as always... hopefully diction and spelling ok.... should really use my laptop!
