Hood
Hi all,
My hood arrived today, so I now have a large piece of fabric with plastic panels, a tubular piece of fabric with velcro straps, and a bag of press-studs, and other odds and sods. If you could shed some light on how I fit the parts to my car, I'd be most grateful! I'd be appreciative of pictures, and explanations of how to attach the fittings to the car's panels. Many thanks, John. |
Hi John.
Here is a couple of pictures of mine. Hopefully showing stud locations. Marlin fitted mine. The tubular piece I have not used yet. But this piece fits across the rear of the rollover bar. Once the hood is on, inflates, to tighten up the fabric. But it is very tight anyway! Hope these help. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...hoodonrear.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...bit/car003.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...t/DSC00203.jpg |
John,
Cheers. Are the press-studs okay down the side? I'm intending to use the tenax ones instead down the side (same as you have on the rear), as they seem more secure. I can't see there are any disadvantages to using the more substantial clips, but have I overlooked something? I'm presuiming the fact yours has doors, means a different strategy should be employed? John. |
Hi John.
Not sure why Marlin did this. But both seem very secure. The ones on the rear "lock" so even more so. But the ones on the door are strong. Not that I've used the hood much. |
SVA may be a bit of a problem because of the studs, I know that Mark told my dad to SVA his car before fitting the cover to his Sportster.

Jon - I've decided I'm going to SVA it without the hood, just to be safe, but thanks for the thought.
Biggles glasses, wooly hat, and general ski clobber will be needed for the drive to Taunton! |
Hood was not fitted for SVA as day was dry. But tucked away just in case. Studs were fitted and there was no problem. Can't see it being a problem as radiuses are fine.
