MK3 looks super!

tough call.. the mk2 seems a more even fit against the top edge, but the mk3 looks more complete.

do you think it might look good if you added a brush strip (letter-box draught excluder) to the insides, to stop dirt, coins, etc falling into the mech? could be a nice alternative to a gaitor.

I didn't get much done this weekend I only sorted out the head restraints the Velcro wasn't working very well so I fitted a neodymium magnet which seems to work very well.

Jobs a good one. The gear-stick gaiter now looks a bit limp compared to the handbrake so I will have a go at making an alloy gate? I am planning on going to the Malvern auto-jumble on the 24th hopefully I will be able to pick up the last few bits I need to finish the car :target:

Nothing happening with the car at the moment too cold in the man cave and too much running around doing all the Christmas stuff.

I finally got around to doing a bit more on the car I fitted a mesh grill just cut to shape and glued in with a hot glue gun.

But as usual it was one step forward and three back. whilst trying to bleed the brakes again I noticed that a wheel was loose so I had to check them all the two offside wheels are not tightening up out with the vernier the wire wheel adapters are 2mm longer and the threads are 2mm sorter than the n/s ones s##t i could turn them down a bit but there is no way I could cut the thread (8 tpi left hand thread) so I bit the bullet and sent for a set of new ones $$$$$

the threads on the stub axle are shot I don't have accesses to a press so I bought a pair of rebuilt ones.

Almost fully fitted. when the new wire wheel adapters arrive I will have to fit decent wheel spacers instead of the universal ones I have at the moment, lots more $$$ doh.
that's it buy for now.

All work on the car has stopped for a while as we got flooded out on Sunday storm Dennis has a lot to answer for I'll be back working on the car ASAP.

Best of luck sorting out your flooded property, its a right pain going through all that. I'm just outside Upton Upon Severn, some people have had it bad again. The recently raised road into town was flooded out too, just getting around is a challenge !

Machined Mart have my postcode and are sending me emails for water pumps and de humidifiers, cheeky f******s. Never miss a sales opportunity !!

Sorry to hear this. My brother in law was flooded out in 2015 with storm Desmond. It’s bad again up here in Cumbria so we are keeping our fingers crossed that it doesn’t happen again.

Hi all I am back well ish the house repairs are coming along slowly but being held up by social distancing which is giving me a chance to do a little bit on the car the new wire wheel adapters arrived and are a perfect fit Look at the difference between the old and new ones.

I can only assume the old ones are for 5 x 15 wires mine are 4 1\2 x 15 there is a difference apparently. so if anyone wants a set of wire wheel adapters for triumph spitfire / herald or gt6 5 x 15" cheap let me know.

Hi Deggsy, sorry to be the bearer of potentially bad news, but I suspect that your new adaptors are for Spitfire 13" wheels only.

The splines on 14" and 15" wires are the same regardless of the rim width as the centres are interchangeable (some have more/less spokes but the hub is the same width), but the Dunlop 13" wheels fitted to the Spit/Herald/Vitesse/GT6 have a narrower central hub. If you trial fit a larger wheel to your new adaptor I believe you'll find that the threaded portion won't extend out of the wheel centre so you can't fit the spinner.

The 13" adaptors do tend to be cheaper at about 2/3rds the price of the larger ones, and that almost caught me out when I built my Spyder.

I'm struggling to find an article that details the difference, but read the info on this ebay listing -

I have fitted them the new shorter adapters are the correct size for the triumph 4 1/2 x 15" wheels (bought them on ebay and checked with the vendor first) so I believe the the longer ones are for the 5 x 15". Moss sell adapters which fit both sizes I don't know how that works?
