GT6 2.5 donor for sale tax exempt
GT6 2.5 with overdrive and full syncromesh donor rolling chassis. It is known as a rotaflex drive as it has the doughnuts on the drive shafts. This has been taken in part exchange. It has been renovated, no rust on chassis, it is in good condition all around. I am told "the engine runs as smooth as silk". It comes complete with a wiring harness and steering column, pedals and master cylinders. It also comes with a radiator and fan. Starter and pump and coil look new, it has an alty looking very good. It has twin carbs and a chrome filter. The body was a Cordite I believe but has been removed and scrapped as it had been fitted badly and some untidy alterations had been made.
It also has rear shocks, a gearbox shaped cover and a 2 into 1 exhaust. The rear has the lowering kit fitted. The wire wheels can be purchased separately if required otherwise a set of standard Spitfire wheels will bolt on to the 4 bolt hubs. It is registered as a Sammio Cordite on the V5 and listed as Historic vehicle in the taxation class. The V5 states 2.0 but it is 2.5 high compression and is correctly numbered on the log book, the engine number is MM6467HE. It is MOT'd until March 2013. I also have a British Motor Industry Heritage trust certificate confirming that it was built in Coventry on 21st Aug 1972 I also have a new chassis plate for it and a pair of second hand chrome front springs. It has new plugs and points etc. How much would you like to buy it for? I also have a set of 15" wires with new tubes and new hub adaptors with spinners to fit the Spit hubs, these can be sold separately, please make an offer. I am just getting rid of this disaster of an attempt to build a car. Please ring 01623 655522 Stuart I can deliver at 1.50 per mile from Nottingham. http://s666.photobucket.com/albums/v...t=DSCN3152.jpg |
Has somebody stuffed a Cordite already? What next? A finished G46?
|
Looks like Chap68's car? He previously advertised it as a Cordite with a Gt6 / 2.5

Just noticed it also comes with a new GT6 fuel tank, a handbrake lever and a pair of rear shocks, it also has a gearbox shaped cover.
|
Now listed on ebay for those who wish to "watch" how much it goes for. Quite weird as there are 172 watching already and I only put it on yesterday.

If I had somewhere to put it, I'd have snapped this up. And the wheels...

If it sells as a prospective Cordite rebody, on this occasion I'd be happy to sell just the shell if the frame is still in good fettle. (Feel free to mention this on the ebay listing Stiggy).

I thought they all went topless in the south of France?
I am sure that with a nice coat of sun cream or paint, the plastic will be suitably protected. |
I was under the impression that it's a good idea to leave a fibreglass shell in the sun to lift out any bubbles under the gel-coat. I thought that was the idea of running a heat gun over it before final prep for paint, to accelerate that process?
I do believe that car had its body modified considerably away from standard, wasn't it lengthened for some reason? Anyway, I'm going to drive mine to hotter climes one day and hang the consequences! :flame: |
I heat gun is much better than sunshine for chasing out the voids. More heat, less UV and much easier to aim at all the bits.

No Void
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-H...2016.18.44.jpg Heat Gun https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-m...2016.19.03.jpg Void https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-b...2016.19.50.jpg The void wasn't at all visible originally. I was running the heat gun over the body when I saw it just start to rise. I removed the heat and then took the photos to show what it looked like. Of all the voids circled on this picture only the ones on the dashboard were really obvious and most weren't apparent at all https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-u...s800/voids.jpg |
Sorry gents, I should have described it differently. I mentioned "sun" as a joke. Blisters due to air not being rolled out during the lay up process are shown on the above photos. The Cordite I had must have been removed from the mould before it was cured as it was deformed on one side by about 50mm.
I have the keys for the donor steering column now and a couple of early bids on ebay for the GT6 donor so it may well leave me soon. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3007968175...84.m1555.l2649 |
sorry to see your foot damage at the bottom of the last pic, is that a cast?
|
Just a back slab at the moment. I snapped my foot off a couple of weeks back.
Good news is the Drs saved the foot, the bad news is the delay to the G46 build Scroll down this thread (http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...?t=3699&page=9) to see it when I first did it. Looks a lot more normal now. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-D...6/Image067.jpg |
