Fuel pump?

I have this morning received my inline fuel pump which I was a bit surprised as it came from the US and only ordered it a few days ago!

However it seems like a very easy job to fit but my question is this

I am intending on leaving my rover fuel pump in the tank, does my new fuel pump just drag the fuel through this?? ie fit the new pump in the flow after the tank?

Cheers
Craig

That's how I've read of them being fitted to high output Leon Cupras / Audi TTs.

The alternative solution is to fit a swirl pot between the two pumps, to act like a low loss header, thus meaning the tank pump will run at very low pressure, and ought to flow more than enough fuel to feed the Walbro.

Have you got your pump yet John?

Surprised how small it is!

Literally seems like a 10min job to fit!

Craig

ps I think I will just fit it inline then and not bother with the swirl pot, dont want to make work for myself if it's not needed

No, I've not got mine yet. I got an email saying "up to 14 days" - ebay lottery!

Does the documentation say how much current it draws?

craig 24th September 2007 12:06

No info that I can see on docs but stamped on pump is use 20amp fuse

alackofspeed 24th September 2007 12:16

Damn - I think if that's the case, my wiring becomes a fuse - not ideal!

I've got my pump now too - it seems pretty big to me! 10mm connections!

Curiously, and I don't think it's placebo, my engine seems to run better with the Walbro 255 fitted.

So there does not seem to be any issues pulling the fuel throught the rover pump??

alackofspeed 1st October 2007 17:45

Seemingly not, and the fuel pressure now raises considerably quicker!

Is there a difference in the Walbro 255's on ebay? They specify different cars on ebay, but my guess is the pumps are identical it's just the fitting parts they are supplied with

limpabit 19th April 2009 21:24

That's correct. It's just the fitting parts that are different I was told.

As an aside, I have since fitted a swirl pot, and take the feed to the walbro from this. It appears to work better than the series arrangement.
