Car pics!
Here are a few pics of my car! Very overcast and dark but here we go.
It's still not finished yet as still have some mesh to go in cooling ducts etc. The car also still needs polishing after it's respray but this can wait a while http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...y/DSC02906.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...y/DSC02907.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...y/DSC02908.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...y/DSC02909.jpg The rear still has all the black mesh to go on and rear diffuser to fit so number plate will be moving http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...y/DSC02910.jpg Black mesh will be behind the air scoops and maybe the front opening aswell http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...y/DSC02911.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...y/DSC02913.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...y/DSC02915.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...y/DSC02914.jpg Overall I'm very pleased with how it's turned out and although white is not everyones thing (not mine as a rule) but it certainly gets loads more attention than it did in it's old colour!! |
Nice colour
Still don't like the doored version though looks like corrugated roof sheet lol |
Hi Jerry,
Yeah I think the doored version like the colour is personal preference, and for me not having doors was not an option for me! I think the fact doors cost an extra £1300+ also puts people off. |
Good work. Much better than the blue.
I can well imagine preparing the surfaces was an utter devil. When I painted my diffuser, the little pin prick sized voids in the surface were a complete pain. |
Craig,
Looks great. White is the new silver....notice how many Audis and BMWs are in white now? Black rims set it off well. Where did you get the wing Rich |
Hi Craig.
Car looks great. As you say, colour choice is all a personal preference. As long as your happy with the colour choice, that's all that matters. The side pod meshing. That is something on my to do list. I have a oil cooler one side now and soon a chargecooler radiator. So need some protection. But the problem is, the side pod is 3 sided. With the 4th side to attach the mesh, the actual car. If that makes sense. I think it's just a matter of bite the bullet. If the side panel needs to come off, the cut the sealant and the chassis side. I bet if feels nice to be driving her again! Matt came round last night to deliver the charge cooler rad in his 5EXI. Gave me some get up and go to get it done now. |
Craig
Stunning finish.:yo: I can now see where you have taken the time and spent the money to good effect. I can only hope I can get close to the end result that you have. Well done. Any chance of some pictures of under the bonnett? JohnC |
John D,
Yes the prep is a mare and knowing what I know now would not have done it all myself but am pleased that I can say my car is 100% built myself including painting it! Rich, The wing was off ebay a cheap thing but looks good! I got the link of John d but just had a look and can't see our wings anymore. Yes your right about white is the new silver as seeing the ultralegga in white with black rims was what did it for me and the new exige sc the same. John, With regards the side messing yes you will just have to bight the bullet and fix one side to chassis! I can't do this due to my remote door openers. John C, Thanks It withstands closer inspection than the gel coat did but still not perfect in places but so so sick of sanding back and compounding that a couple of areas will wait until winter again. Under the hood has not really changed so will hunt out some photo's but basically oil cooler, remote filter housing with oil pressure, temp etc and hurricane induction |
I'm going to come across the same problem as you with the mesh. I have my remote door openers there as well.
Let me know how you get on and like wise here. |
:thumb: White suites it really well, good choice and great job.
John |
I'd avoid mesh if you can, as the effect it has on air flow is quite dramatic. Even if, say, 80% of the available area is still open, the mesh has the effect of dropping the effective area significantly, and thus might not do you any favours on track, where cooling is a real struggle.
I'm trying to find a really coarse mesh for the front, as I was stuggling with water temp on track, despite having a fully shrouded radiator, which was extracting as much as possible from the existing meshed opening. I don't want to have nothing there (it's the only hole I want some mesh), as I just know somewhere there's an evil stone waiting to do some damage. |
Hi John.
It was that reason (evil stones) that I wanted to put mesh of the side panels. Just to protect the oil cooler and chargecooler rad. |
John,
I'm not meshing my side ducts! Just front little ones and rear clam little ones! May try the front opening but will see. My oil cooler is placed on an angle (front to back of car) so that when air comes in the duct it can cover the whole oil cooler (or thats the theory) but as such any stones would deflect back against the inside clam. |
Any chance of some piccies of the cooler etc?
