Seat Options

Still trying to decide on seat options for the SWB 250. I dont want to stick with the original Z3 ones.

I was oringinally thinking of bucket seats...

But I think I'm moving away from the fixed back seats.

I've seen the MG/Rover 45 seats but I still think they look a bit too modern.

What other options is there on used seats?

MGB? Cheap enough for a knackered seat and then get a rebuild kit?
Classic Mini? Even cheaper but would they fit?

I like the blue custom ones in Casamolino's (Geoffs) car - from a place in the NW?

Any other options that people know fit?

Hi,
I don't know if they'll fit but I had considered those from a Ford SportKa Mk1. They are comfortable although little bolsters. And they are cheap for leather.

I'm planning on the MGB option, only problem is that MGB seats, well look like MGB seats! maybe because I had one for many years.
I have found someone on Ebay who does a set of "hump" leather seat covers for £275, they don't quite look as MGish as others.

And seat rebuild kit for £54 + Vat

Most sellers on Ebay are after £45 just for the "hump" seat foam.

I picked up a pair of seats for £35 for the pair.

I intend to fit them to the existing base and transfer the heated seat elements. I don't know if it's going to work as I'm still waiting to get the car back.

I did look at the Ford KA leather seats as option, cheap a s chips, you can get a good pair for less than £50. I'm not sure if the shape will work but at that money it could well be worth a punt.

MGF seats also look good, there was a blue car on the forum that had a cream pair fitted that looked very good but around £350 for a good pair. Alfa Spider seats also looked as if they could be an option.
I think the Rover seats just look too big.

I would be careful about fitting any kind of seat that does not have any back adjustments, they can prove to be very uncomfortable.

You need to think of the physical size of the seat too. Also with bucket type seats you need to be able to fit into them ! I've tried some of the "kit car" bucket seats and they are simply too narrow to drive more than a few miles. You need comfort and support! From the three you have selected, I would go with the Cobra Roadster type.

What about something like these, throwing away the headrests?

Oooooooh me like!

Not cheap at £1200, but plenty cheaper than DeHavilland at £1650. I can't find them on the Intatrim site though. Where am I going wrong?

Aus Simmo 25th May 2017 00:37

Oops my bad - just released and on Facebook but not website yet.

It looks like DeHavilland have commissioned them from Intatrim.

Priced FROM so that will be the venial price and they don't recline either by the look of the design.
I think Jeff's are much better value.

Not to bad for us classier convertible owners but just imagine a plastic seat in the coupe with widows that hardly open an no aircon!!!!
