That's what he needs to do because you are effectively presenting him with a new / different vehicle to what his system is showing him. Once updated the old donor car details will no longer exist.

The car has been rebodied and you have an up to date, correct V5. You don't have anything to worry about and neither does the MOT tester, he is being presented with the correct information.

in australia, when mine is finally ready, it will be still registered as a triumph herald due to the chassis. i have only control over the 'variant' part - so it wont be a herald coupe, but a "Triumph Herald Special". this keeps the orig 1960 specs and means i dont need (for example) a reversing light or hazards that were not on the original. and original emissions and noise which is nice as that was unregulated...

As far as I am aware this is correct.
The tester must MOT the vehicle presented to him for the test and alter the details on the computer accordingly.
If this is done correctly DVLA will usually contacts the registered keeper after the MOT test to confirm and will request full details of any modification carried out.
This is where a lot of incorrectly registered kit car owners get into problems with DVLA. :icon_frown:
However, as your car is registered correctly with DVLA this will not be an issue.

When I was regularly converting Citroen 2CV to 3 wheeler this was always a problem, presenting a trike for MOT when the paperwork said is was car. .:icon_cry:

Thanks Micky, I have talked to the tester who agrees now and will test the car tomorrow and alter the information on his system, so fingers crossed. It will be interesting to see what if anything he picks up

Good news today, MOT done, no registration issues and it only failed on the os rear brake, seems cylinder is seized.

So I view that as a success...
waiting for some bits from James Paddock then retest and drive off into the sunset.
Must remember to avoid roads with humps - only have 4 " ground clearance

Thinking about driving.... Wire wheels with tubes, no spare wheel. Does anyone know if the cans of tyre repair are any good with tubed tyres?????

Can't find any info on line, all the 'net chat is about repairing mountain bike tyres.

Tyre sealant is only supposed to be a 'get you home fix' or to the nearest tyre shop to buy a new one. Once you've used it you're supposed to replace the tyre as it can usually no longer be repaired and they don't recommend continuing to drive on it long-term, although I used it in a rear tyre on my Nissan about three years ago and haven't quite got round to replacing it yet so it's still in service.

I haven't tried it in a tubed wire wheel, but given how it works I'd say it would give you at least some chance of getting home and the chances are you'll never need it anyway. I always keep a breakdown service card under the driver's seat in my classics, though...

I'd say give it a go, what have you got to lose?

As Mr T says, maybe worth a go. One benefit (if it's in a tube) is that you won't have the bother of trying to get all the goo off the wheel afterwards.

I recommend carrying one of these slime kits around.

I have used them in the passed and they seem to work OK.
It's worth remembering some breakdown services such as the "AA" will not recover you if you do not have a spare wheel. :help:
As far as I am a were one of these types of repair agent will satisfy their requirement and they'll recover you if it fails to do the job.
Just make sure the can of sealant is in date.

After 9 years and 3 months here she is, new tonneau fitted, MOT tested, Taxed and road legal. Thanks to all for the help and advice over the years and the other projects that help you keep on going
