Parts for any new Ribble / Sammio builders

As i come to the end of my build i find myself with a ruck of new and used parts including but not limited to:

Trunnion Rebuild Kits New
4 speed gearbox used.
Couple of wishbones and rear uprights used
plastic gearbox cover new but has a hole cut in it
loads of brand new bearing bushes etc
boxes of used but perfectly serviceable imperial nuts and bolts
4 brand new 185/70 R14 tyres which were fitted and then removed in favour of something a little skinnier
A brand new pair of seat runners.
Various pipes brake tubing unions etc.
At least one driveshaft
A prop shaft
Used but good waterpump
A Weber DCOE 40 in bits
At least one used from upright assembly.

I really cant be arsed to go through it all and sell a bit here and bit there for £5 so was wondering if anyone want to come over with an estate car or van and take the lot? Price is negotiable but will probably be less than i could weigh it all in for. I need the space more than i need to profit from the sale of the bits as my next project is sitting in the wings.

just realised there's a fuel tank as well

Might be interested in the Weber DCOE in bits if I could tempt you to sell that separately?

Viatron 14th May 2015 19:58

hmm make me an offer. Its a complete carb but totally stripped.

craigt 14th May 2015 20:39

Cheers

Thanks Mac - do you know if it is 3 or 4 syncro - I have a Mk3, which is only 3, but I understand the Mk4 was 4 syncro.

Thanks

Marc I don't honestly know, its what came with the "donor in boxes" I bought which is a MKIII 1300 with an FD prefix engine. Unfortunately I cant find out how to tell the difference even after 30 minutes on google!

The gearbox should have a number with a two letter prefix, that's the code you need.

Viatron 15th May 2015 11:22

actually just read somewhere that the 3 synchro has a square output flange and the 4 synchro has a round one. If that's the case theen its a 3 synchro.

Viatron 15th May 2015 11:23

Ed so what is the difference in prefix between the 2?

Without doing a lot of research I don't know but here is a link the Rimmers Spitfire gearbox pages...

Ben Caswell is your man, he would know off the top of his head, I am sure.

I have what I believe is a freshly factory reconditioned Dolomite 1800 single rail with a J Type o/d and the two letters nailed the exact box. I don't want to part with the Dolomite box right now because I might need it, it fit's my 1275 'A' series BMC engine. I think the two letters are stamped on the top next to the lid, from memory but your box may be different.

PM sent

Weber DCOE has gone to a new home.

Only way to be sure its a four synchro is take the top off and have a look. If it is a MkIV box the prefix is FH the number is on the top edge of the main case.

Well there you go! Cheers Ben.

The back synchro hub should look a bit like the front one, if it's four synchro, if it's three synchro, the back half of the back synchro hub will have a steel dog clutch instead of a bronze synchro clutch.

You should see the difference in the Rimmer link I posted above.
