Chassis

Are there any differences between the T-series and K-series chassis. I've now come to terms with how much it costs to tune the k-series, and want to look at either a type - r (expensive) or the T-series. I'm sure I'll have some parts to re-buy from marlin or hopefully exchange.
But are the basic components the same ?

turbo

I have built turbo model and believe there are slight differences to chassis points for stabiliser bars. I ended up manufacturing my own stabilisers anyway because the one i was supplied with didn't fit my engine, which was maybe a year difference or something. I am sure there won't be any insurmountable problems to deal with. There will obviously be more work to fitting the turbo unit but not too much. hth Brian.

Hi Dan.

I started this project a total novice. For me I wanted to jump in at the deep end and do a turbo. I've learned so much about this Rover setup and glad I did the turbo. You would need the complete running gear and engine loom. Would imagine it would be cheaper to get a donor Rover as there cheap. Yep that old chestnut stripping a donor!

As Holgate says, I think only the mountings and stabiliers (which my top don't fit anyway) will need swaping. Best just to ask Mark as he knows the differences between the two chassis if there is any. If it's just brackets I would imagine they would swap them over.

thanks for the replys. I'll have to have a word with mark. I did think the main chassis assembly was a standard unit, but will check. I'm going to see a type r engine tommorrow if we can sort a good deal out I'll go with that otherwise It'll be the turbo option I think
Will have to keep my eye out for a t-series engine, couldn't face stripping another car done, nor would the missus let me have another heap on the drive... :eusa_boohoo:

Engine mounts are definately different and there are a few components that Marlin supply that are different for the 'T' series.

Hi Dan.

Here's one for you.

I've heard that the guy was looking for around the £1000.

But you would still need to other bits and bobs like oil cooler, engine loom, cam belt and cam belt covers. It has the turbo and all the oher bits by he looks of things.

Thats a good find if genuine and not nicked :eusa_clap:

Hmm not sure how it would work if nicked. It would have to be nicked from old Rover not the current owners.

I got a similar find but painted bright green!

Well been to see a smashed up type-r today, and left a deposit on the engine....  :eusa_dance:
Will be helping the guy strip it out on Saturday and then bring it home, better get onto Marlin and find out everything I need ....
