5 Attachment(s)
Just starting my 250 build. Base car is a tatty 2.8 Z3
Going to dye the carpets and fit Rover 75 seats It will be a long build as don’t have much spare time |
Good luck with the build.
And welcome Dave |
Thanks Dave

Carpets
1 Attachment(s)
Usual Z3 problem. The sponge Under the carpets was wringing wet and carpets were stained and a nasty beige colour. I decided to take them out, power wash them and then try and dye them black. Really pleased with the results.

Rover 75 seats
Hi guys
I’m putting Rover 75 seats in the car and have just losely placed them in, but they are very snug!! The switches for the electrics touch the side of the car!!! Has anyone hear had a similar problem and if so how did you get round it. Thanks |
I think people fix the controls to the bottom front of the seat with cable ties
|
I decided against the Rover seats as they are just too large. I am going with MGB seats fitted to the original bases. Others have fitted later MGF seats and they look very good, both are that much smaller than the Rover seats but the Rover seats have that advantage of cost.

Thanks for the reply though |
I fitted MX5 seats but had to make up square section bracket that bolted straight to the car floor using the existing fitting for the BMW seats, very comfy with plenty adjustment if your tall. Good luck with the build.

I have found these on evilbay. May work a treat with some flat bar to adapt to the Z3 mounts.

Guage pod
2 Attachment(s)
Started to cut the dashboard up to fit the pod in today, very happy with the results. Bit of filling then painting the whole lot black.

I am going to weld some extra bracket for my rover seats. I am only 5 feet 5 inches and wife is smaller so seat height is ok Thanks |

Gauges Here
1 Attachment(s)
These are a work of art😁
|
Have you bought a set of instruments?
If so a detailed step by step guide with a wiring diagram would be a great addition to the site. I am very tempted to buy a set when funds allow but the wiring frightens me. |

Thanks for that but there the easy ones!
Speedo will probably be the hardest. |

I’m not doing the speedo or tacho at first Sorry |
I have these gauges in my mirage 250 , how do you set the time on the clock?
does the little knob need pulling out to wind it to the correct time .? |

Rover seats
1 Attachment(s)
I’ve been making up a couple of wiring harnesses so that o can move the seat switch gear to the centre of the car behind the handbrake. Just the car side to do next. A local engineering firm is making some brackets for the base of the seats to attach them to the car.

Seats, carpet and dash
2 Attachment(s)
God I’m slow, but enjoying the ride.
Just finished installing the electric rover seats after dying the carpet black from brown and spraying the dash black. Yellow seatbelts as the car will be yellow when finished in 2022 haha |
Dash and Console
4 Attachment(s)
I know it won’t be to everyone’s taste but I’ve nearly finished the dash. Installed a double din pioneer unit that gives me DAB radio, rear and front cameras, Bluetooth and apple play.
Used the cortina gauge pod, mini switches |
I’ll take some better photos when I can get her out of the garage
|

Nearly finished the interior stuff

It’s starting to get exciting
3 Attachment(s)
Got the old girl MOTD this week so now it’s time to get to the exciting bit, stripping the rear end off the car. I am going to take erichomes path and do it in sections so the car can be driven in between.
Sills, side panels and boot off today😁 One question. When the panels are off it is a good time to do some protection in places that can’t be seen. My sills are hood with a bit of surface rust. What do people recommend I use? Thanks |
1 Attachment(s)
Back end on temporarily to get the electrics sorted.
|

Boot is rested in place. Looks like there could be quite a bit of work to get the levels and shut lines correct. Never done this before so will have to see how I get on!!!

http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...1&d=1561138214 I’d suggest you have a read of other 250 build threads to see how others have approached this. The good news is there is usually more than one way to achieve the same result. Good luck, Paul. :) |
Thanks Paul
