Dammit, I knew Gary was overcharging us.

I can't seem to find their website to place an order though...

There's one being auctioned at Brooklands on Saturday. Yours for £9000 - £12000.

Very pretty, but looks better in the picture with a low wind deflector rather than a windscreen. Not that i'm biased towards win deflectors you understand :)

Hmm, I think you have a point there. At least they didn't take all the pictures under the shadow of a load of trees...:eusa_whistle:

Ugly arse and and example of how NOT to do a bonnet scoop. Almost as stylish as Charman.marks chin spoiler!

Nick59 25th May 2012 15:38

I quite like the scoops on the side tho

The Mistral is rather like the german front end.
Mike close your ears , Garry the german front with faired in lamps would look very similar. I know the gent in Hockley is playing with this idea
datsun 240z lamps arent they?

You know when a random subject starts a 'Google Trail'... :ranger:

Starting with a search for Microplas get into all sorts of fabulous 50's designs including photos of the range advertised above in the mid 50's (Which in my opinion lends absolute authenticity to Gary's design concept) Take a look at their 'Toledo' on this link:
http://www.fairthorpescc.com/fscc_microplas.html
which could easily be a humpless, doored spyder with a bonnet bulge

Straying off subject here, their 'Microboat' would look great being trailed behind a Sammio spyder...

(btw, A company called microplas mouldings also makes Glow in the dark 'Sperm' keyrings :noidea:)

Mister Towed 26th May 2012 07:51

The Stileto misses the mark imho, a sort of AC Cobla. The Toledo looks nice though - very much in the mould of the original Sammio if you'll excuse the pun. :)

Nike55 26th May 2012 15:12

..interestingly no mention of the Fairthorpe on Microplas' listing of 50/60's specials, which were of a similar nature to the Turner/Toledo/etc from numerous small firms.

(AVM Donald Bennett entered and drove a Fairthorpe in the Monte Carlo in '59 and '62)
