Good point Matthew, I'd love to fit one to my Tiger Avon if it can be IVA'd.

I assumed with mine I would fabricate some 'outriggers' which would attach to the chassis and support/fix to the body using aero catches.

Mistral looks good, and I'm interested. I have a couple of questions though....

1/ What is the original wheelbase of the Mistral shell, and is it still available?

2/ What car's have the same wheelbase as the original Mistral shell, Spitfire/Herald/Scimitar etc?

I'm not interested in modifying the length of the original body, I'd like to keep that the same. However, that bodyshell on a readily available donor would be awesome.

Cheers,
Phil

Hi Phil

The wheelbase of the Mistral shell is 90", so it will sit on a Herald chassis nicely. I have some pictures of a hell on such a chassis, I will post them up when I locate them.

Awesome thanks, I'll look forward to the pictures.

Perhaps the time is rife to dust off the Mistral Moulds -

Looks like it no longer has its Mille Miglia authorisation...

Due to various deals, I passed the Yimkin frame onto a pal, and he's now offering it for sale, so if anyone fancies a nice 'period' base for a Mistral project, check out: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yimkin-For...item4ae2624441

That's a shame.

Did Electron or Puma931 ever post any updates?

New to this forum, originally interested in building an A352, but this is something else!

Can you guys still sell me a Mistral bodyshell, like the one you posted at the start of this topic, for a Herald chassis at £795?

What would be required to make the car road legal, if say j combined the body with a Herald chassis and vitesse engine? Completely new to the world of kit cars, but looking for a project!

Thanks for the reply, I had a look through the Miglia section of the forum - is it whoever started the topic entitled 'Miglia?' that has bought a Mistral shell?

I shall ring them soon, I'll try after work but if not I'll have more time on friday - I have a few questions! :)

Thanks again

Im sure Chris will be along soon but I can say that I was down at the dream factory a couple of weeks ago and there was a couple of shells being readied to become race cars

Pandora 26th November 2015 22:40

I really fancy doing one on a Triumph chassis, but have current project to complete / sell first.

Would be interested to see any undergoing build though

I saw this today at the stoneleigh restoration show - it was badged as a Bucklers Mistral - not sure if this is the same as you are trying to build or not, but if so, maybe the pics might help :)
