Formula Ford EcoBoost Kit Car

5 Attachment(s)
Hello my name is Sean McDonald and I do not know if it is okay to make this type of post or if it is in the correct place but I am very excited about offering this iconic race car as a kit car. We are still working on website www.streetlegalracecars.com and expect it to be finished soon.

Back in 2012 Ford decided to put a 1.0 liter EcoBoost Engine in a Formula Ford FF-200. They decided to add turn signals, brake lights, head lights, running lights and electric brake and make this one off car street legal. They took this car to major race tracks and trade shows like SEMA in Las Vegas. There was much speculation in the press about Ford building 50 cars but this never became a reality. We have been following this story since then.

This year British Formula Ford adopted a new carbon fiber monocoque chassis so the car that was used for the last three years was retired. This new car has the same 1.6 liter EcoBoost engine that was used for the three previous years for Formula Ford. We saw a unique opportunity to acquire the rights to same car Formula Ford used from 2012-2015. Mygale sold this car to race teams essentially. The team would have to purchase an engine, electrical harnesses, dash, spares etc in order make a race car. We decided to follow Ford’s lead and offer a Kit car that could be driven on the street. We worked out a deal to get worldwide distribution of this car. Under our agreement Mygale will continue to build the cars for our company for now.

Just like all kits car we intend on selling this car as a kit.

We will be offering a car that can be configured as follows:

Ford EcoBoost 1.0 with six speed Hewland transmission.

In the future:
Ford EcoBoost 1.0 with six speed Hewland transmission.

1.3 liter Hayabusa with six speed transmission.

We do not supply engines but we can recommend some local and national companies to get either used or new engines from as well someone to install the engine if the customers does not want to do it. We do not sell completed cars.

Here are some videos on the FF-200 with the new 1.0 liter Ford EcoBoost. All of our cars will have front and rear wing

After a hard day of sleuthing, I've managed to talk to someone there.

They'll have 2 models. One built from a used car chassis imported from Europe, and another featuring a 100% locally made chassis.

The imported chassis "used car" version will be $85K!
The 100% locally made chassis version will be "about $100K".

Is it a Mygale FF200?

firepete 11th August 2015 14:47

yes

FrankRizzo 12th August 2015 04:54

Does anyone have any info on the price of an FF200 NEW from Mygale?

FrankRizzo 14th August 2015 17:07

I got some info on this with regards to the US.

The FF200 (M12) was never imported into the US, and the new F4 car is considered to be the REPLACEMENT for it.

I've not heard back from Mygale's French HQ, as they're on holiday currently.

FrankRizzo 17th August 2015 22:14

Got word from Mygale HQ today. They've even stopped production of the FF200. They offered me an F4 though.

I STILL have yet to find the roller price for the FF200 when new.

firepete 17th August 2015 22:23

How much new one.

Pick my 200 up Thursday I hope

FrankRizzo 18th August 2015 00:18

That's what I'M asking!

How much WAS a new one? I have yet to find a news story that mentions it, and I've yet to see it posted anywhere.

(Congrats on picking up yours. I'm definitely jealous!)

firepete 18th August 2015 00:44

what about the new one .

I think I read prices like 40k euros but that was without engine and ecu etc

FrankRizzo 18th August 2015 01:45

The new F4 will be 33,000 Euros as a roller.

I didn't ask Pete. What are your plans with yours? Hillclimbs? Street legal?

Also, I've heard that the swap from the 1.6L to the 2.0L, and even the 2.3L is very easy.

I personally want a 2.3L 350 BHP, 320 lbs/ft torque version for track days here. :-)

firepete 18th August 2015 11:39

hill climbs and sprints and would like to make road legal if possible .
keeping the 1.6 engine and upgrading to 300 bhp bigger wheels and more down force and diet .
but other options might be fit smaller engine to take it in a more competitive class. for sprinting
