Madison Cafe Racer Roadster - Out and About!
The Madison has been on the road for almost 2 years. Can you beleive it. I have done many more miles in it than I ever anticipated and still only seen one other. It was at The Biggar VW Show, but I was in the 'Works' transport which was a shame.
We were kindly invited to the Stoneleigh Kit Car Show in May to display on the Complete Kit Car Hall of Fame Stand which was a Great weekend. The drive down the Motorway was amazing, I even passed some lorries! I have been to a few local Car Events and have had a geat reception. Most people have no idea what it is. This lead to me to produce a display board of complete nonsense which is attached to the bottom of the Build Video I have on You Tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLchDeBYiGo&t=290s Its surprising how many people happily accept this information! The Build Video is a bit long and I think a Movie would have been better. But we didn't have camera until now. Here is the first attempt at the GoPro thing...Myself and Michael went to Cadwell Park in June. I am not planning to do loads of talking, I like to have the engine and other noises! Here are a few clips from that run, hope you like them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sI_pwCIB3xI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4JbC7nhKNk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0U8Me4vmV7g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQDlaicvh_Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vwefm8aJqgc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZmlB5FbiEM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9559zUvwh1s I have some more that I took while on a quick run around the block on Christmas Eve. I'll post that when it's edited. Cheers Simon |
Not just an old kit jazzed up with wire wheels and alloy seats then!
Quality build I bet you were sick of red paint for a while ha ha Can you tell me which aftermarket front suspension you fitted please? Thanks Mark |
Hi Mark,
I went for the total Red after seeing the all Green Chassis that Oxford1360 was doing on his Sammio build. That looks fantastic. It did look like I might have over done it at one point, but the bodywork has toned it down a little! The Front is one of my own bolt on setups... http://www.red9design.co.uk/type1.htm Cheers Simon |

I have seen your webpage already as was pricing up a 356 coupe saw them on volkszone in a few builds and didn't fancy a beam front end I bet it rides completely different to a standard beam. Was the kit oldstock or are they still being made? Thanks again regards Mark |
We have done quite a few 356's they are so different compared to the stock setup. Ride quality and Handling like a normal Car!
The Wishbone Kits have really taken off, we have done many Buggies and a few Nova's too. Certainly still being made. We usually have 20-30 of the different types on the go all the time! Cheers Simon |
Here are some of the pictures from the travels I mentioned above

What an idiot, eh!
Yes the Kit was an Original from the early eighties...but the fiberglass althought battered was still very straight. It must have been a quality kit back then. Cheers Simon |
GRP work during the 80's and 90's was very good on the whole. In recent times there have been many companies out there doing things on the cheap. Many are having a go, often they're not skilled GRP laminators, often using cheap labour and working in less than ideal conditions. Costs may have risen but that's no excuse for selling a low quality product .
