Sammio Spyder related shops & suppliers
 

I started this project knowing very little about who to go to for what.

I'd browsed the Triumph forums and already knew of some kit car companies, but there wasn't one list of "if you want x then talk to y' specifically for us Sammio Spyder types. So now we've got our own little corner of the web i thought i'd make one :)


So in no particular order, here's my starter for 10...

• e-bay - for the odd bits-n-bobs & bargins.
  
• Car Builder Solutions - http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/ for endless hours pondering bits and pieces that i never realised that i couldn't live without! :) Beware, if you get a printed copy of their catalogue don't leave it on the living room table like i did, it's VERY tempting to just keep building and building your list of bits you simply 'must' have :)
  
• Europa Spares - https://www.europaspares.com/ For more bits-n-bobs that you simply can't live without!
  
• Rimmer Brothers - http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/ For everything Triumph related. They're not always the cheapest, but the benefit of having exploded diagrams on-line with links to the individual parts is a god-send when you're trying to find that obscure part that is only half-show in the Haynes manual!
  
• Canley Classics - http://www.canleyclassics.com A dedicated Triumph specialist. Cheaper than Rimmers in places and they also do the swing spring conversion. As well as parts, their site also has a lot of good Triumph related info on things like the rear end tuck and they store lots of nice after market parts. hummmm Trunion-less front suspension...
  
• Moss - http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/ More classic car parts with the added benefit that's there is a branch in Bristol 20 mins from my office! My seats came from here as they were one part that i wanted to see "in the flesh" before i bought them.
  
  
• Spitfire Graveyard http://www.spitfireg1.f9.co.uk/frame.htm for fantastic 2nd hand car parts.
  
  The web site isn't as flash as others, but i've found that if you ring them they're really helpful and really good. Just remember that because they're a beakers, they don't always have everything but i've found they they're normally able to offer alternatives.
  

Bresco Vehicle Services I haven't used these yet but very impressed with the trim parts available, I am sure it will be good to know of them for those little bits we always break or lose.

I thought I'd add a note on here "bigging-up" Spitfire graveyard! (i forgot to mention originally, they do all triumph bits, not just Spitfire)

I'd ordered a complete set of replacement dials from them in the past and also a new inlet manifold and set of Strombergs and they were REALLY helpful on both cases and made sure that i had what i "needed" and not just what i'd asked for. Which gave me a lot of confidence in them.

I had to ring them yesterday as whoever had my car before me had removed the old dials by simply cutting them out of the wiring loom, so i had no bulb holders! doh!

I phoned Dave at Spitfire graveyard yesterday at just before 2pm, he had just what i wanted at a very reasonable price and at 9.20 this morning the package has turned up and he seems to have included some extra ones "just in case".
Now that's the sort of service that deserves to get a man a good reputation and so i thought it was only fair to share my good experience!

He's also vaguely aware of Sammios as i told him what i was up to.

I have emailed them asking if they can put a kit of parts together for me so i can start my build, they sound very helpful. I have found it a lot more difficult to get a triumph around this area... (Margate). :frusty:

I'd strongly recommend that you find the best donor you can, then sell the parts you don't need on ebay.

I paid £845 for my Vitesse, which came with a reconditioned, unleaded 2 litre six and, so far, I've got £747 back for the spares with the bonnet alone fetching £311. Someone even paid me a decent sum for the windscreen frame I'd cut off! :jaw:


That means the chassis, engine and gearbox cost me £98 and I've still got a few bits to sell on.

Anyway, good luck whatever you decide to do.

Like i say, theres not that many around, i'm always looking. If i got a car i will change most bits, start from scratch and get all the correct bits i want.:ranger:
