Thanks alfb, I ended up doing almost exactly the same. I bought a 2nd hand fuel filler for the mx5 for £10 to use the extra hoses, and just extended everything using that. Works great! Thanks.

They say acetone eats through carbon really quickly, but to be honest I'd worry about the seals if I used that, atleast I know WD40 isn't corrosive, just a good aid for cleaning!
