Definitely a bodge but unfortunately BMW never made an OEM pipe that connected a 2.8 engine to a 2.5 Inlet manifold, hence the need to bodge.

Standard BMW parts do not fit because it is a 2.5 intake manifold on a 2.8 head and the hoses are different. Hence the gaffer taped version that has died....
