Default Quick improvement for flat paint - How?

My car has had been undercoated and then a quick top coat put on. This was never meant to be the finished paint job, merely to make the car a single colour and passable for photos so I have no complaints.

The trouble is that I have run out of money for a few months so was wondering if there is any quick way to smarten it up a bit. The paint finish is basically dull and if it was a normal car I would say it looks like it needs a good t-cut and polish. I am planning on getting it properly sprayed next year so don't want to do anything that will disrupt that, just want a bit of shine.

What recommendations?

1) Use a normal car polish and my electric polisher to shine up what is there
2) Use product "insert name here" to get the paint finish smooth and then polish
3) Use XXXX grade wet'n'dry to get a smooth finish and then polish
4) Something else?

As you can see, it is not a massive issue but a quick fix would be nice
