Thanks Mas, nice. I'm not keen on plywood anywhere (i dunno, i just don't like the idea) but i'll message Mike and see. current plan is to have (in one peice per side - the front bit would not be sunken) 2mm ali laser cut to the "net" plan and machine folded like origami to the shape, resulting in only about 500-600mm of total weld distance. The weight would be about 7kg per side, and the seats would sit on steel "straps" that would spread the strain and carry most of the weight to the chassis rails.

that will cost me estimated $300AUD per side, but getting the initial drawings done onto a computer that the CNC cutter will read including bending and weld gap allowance is likely to be on top of that. If successful, I may sell the computer cnc ready plans for a small fee (attempting some recovery of the prototyping costs!).
