XK-8 convertible base as used by Mrs Woss above is clearly doable.
They're probably more easily available, reliable(?) and reasonably priced (for a sound car with MOT) than the old XJ-S these days. Lose the nasty 22" wires and Silver Cross side trims, glaze the rear side panels and you could achieve a pretty good V8 auto gentleman's shooting brake look on a budget.
