I did ask Gary about the necessity for the body to be fixed or not prior to inspection a couple of months ago, since I was also thinking about turning up with ours just strapped on. His reply was that they most definitely do need to be bonded in place, not just loosely fixed.
I guess it kind of makes logical sense, after all they are being inspected to check that they have actually been re-bodied.
Not quite there myself either yet.
