Easy answer is development costs. I'd imagine developing a space frame chassis and all that entails would be pretty expensive.

This particular bodykit has been brought over from the states so is 'ready to go' - low overheads.

I agree entirely with your sentiments though.

I seem to remember years ago someone built an absolute peach of a 250 GTO replica, right down to every last detail. From what I recall it was going to go into production but Ferrari had other ideas! Maybe this is another reason why people may be reluctant to sink lots of money into projects such as this.

There was a Porsche 944 based 250 GTO bodykit showing on the Italian replica club stand at Donington - brings it a bit more up to date. Was a around £7k though which is a bit pricey for a few panels of fibreglass.
