The new system will allow people to pay the charge by monthly direct debit.
The Treasury said it showed government was moving "into the modern age".

I, for one, look forward to paying £0.00 per month by direct debit

I bet DVLA will
still send us a threatening reminder for the unpaid £0.00
I'm guessing that new Police powers to seize untaxed vehicles could also be on the cards. At the moment all we can do is submit a form to DVLA for them to commence prosecution - their fines are
enormous though - typically £1,000 + a multiple of all the unpaid back tax which can tot up to around £3,000. That's much higher than anything we can dish out
We'll probably start seeing notes in Reliant windscreens too -
tax in email.
