Now back on ebay but £2k cheaper this time. If it came with a decent 6 cylinder motor I'd almost be tempted at that price. Need to get on with my Speedster first though.
Just in case anyone who's not familiar with the forum/a troll/etc. asks, it's still nothing to do with me despite the use of pictures of the (silver) car that I built, and the image of the red car still isn't either a Sammio or a Lancia D24.

This listing has now disappeared - I guess ebay had issues with it.

This is a historical problem that will never go away and many genuine enthusiast are caught-up in it.
My only advice is to do the best you can under the circumstances.
To put it another way , make sure the car is insured for what it is NOT what the V5 says.
So, if it's a Spartan chassis running a Cobra body and a V8 engine tell the insurance company it's a Spartan chassis running a Cobra body and a V8!! The insurance companies aren't stupid and if they wont insure it you can't drive it. .
Nothing is going to make it right and nothing will make an in-correctly registered car totally legal.
One of the main things to worry about is Road tax! It you running a doggy car and have claimed free "historic" road tax you are committing fraud, because you have knowingly de-fraud HMC out of the cost of the road tax, it you get "caught" they will prosecute you for fraud and that's serious !!
DVLA are now trying to shut-the-door on this practise, but the DVLA system was, is and will always be a mess as it's a government institution run by people who don't have a clue about the real world and who are answerable to no one .
At least VOSA have rule and stick to them!!!
Basically if you think or feel all is NOT correct, DON'T buy it, DON'T build it and finally DON'T drive it.
The police has had an amnesty on guns so why don't DVLA have an amnesty on V5's !!!!!

🤐 IVA?
Yes it may be lots of work and some expense but most cars could be made to pass - and it’s the only way you’re legally going to register some of these ringers in the future.
As an aside, I really think a mod should move this discussion from the OP which is simply an advert for a rebodied separate chassis car that just needed the V5 amending (and not IVA as originally demanded).

"Basically if you think or feel all is NOT correct, DON'T buy it, DON'T build it and finally DON'T drive it."
Very wise words.
"IVA?"
Also very wise words.
As far as I can see, there are only three possible things to do with an incorrectly registered kit car: re-register it correctly with an IVA test, restrict it to off-road / track use only, or break it for spares. Using it on the road should not be an option. The thought of the IVA test may be intimidating, but surely if you have the motivation and talent to build a car, it should be possible? Admittedly, I built my kit car before SVA/IVA was introduced and all it needed was an MoT to register, so I don't have any experience of it yet.
I do not think it is the right attitude that if someone is driving an incorrectly registered kit car on the road and gets pulled and is prosecuted who cares as long as the car is not a danger to its driver or others and it is no business of anyone else.
"The police has had an amnesty on guns so why don't DVLA have an amnesty on V5's !!!!!"
They did, when the SVA was introduced. They reissued corrected V5s for kit cars still registered as the donor car provided it could be shown, with MoT or insurance certificates, that the car was in use since its construction. For example, there were Duttons which were described on their V5s as Ford Sports. DVLA reissued V5s which correctly described them as Duttons. This amnesty was a last chance to correct things before new builds were required to go through the SVA test.

Anyone know what the other car is in the background? And no, I don't mean the modern DS.

Just to up-date Phaeton on the "ringer" issue !!!
I have just spoken to the owner of the said "ringer" who confirms the car is now registered as a SCIMITAR D24 SPYDER.
This V5 amendment was achieved via a simple NO cost, NO hassle paperwork exercise with DVLA.
He also said the car is going well but in need a new screen.

Good call Jonkoxe, the shape of the bootlid, rear wings and the curve of the rear deck all fit the Hawthorn -

Hope that one doesn't end up with SLR slashed arches...

Interesting that you chose this Youtube video. Clearly a car that is registered as something it is most definitely not!! Apparently this is a 1500cc Riley.
Did you did this just to please Mr Pheaton..... you tease!

Regarding the current rebody trend, there is nothing to stop you putting a new body onto an existing kit car chassis. There are lots of options for all sorts of replicas and one offs if you put your mind to it. The same rules apply about not modifying the chassis from "standard".

Again, nothing to do with me despite the image of my old Spyder at the end of the pics. Looks like a decent project, if a bit pricey at the buy-it-now if it's missing the frame -

Mr T - I love the fact your car keeps appearing in other people's adverts as the high end Sammio bench mark.
I think it has the framework, but is missing the engine.
Either way, when is your Speedster build thread going to start?
Or are you so busy in retirement that you haven't got any spare time now?
Hope all is well, Paul.
